I am clueless about these things but I need to make dd into a star using tinsel for her nursery play. What's the best thing to use to stick the tinsel onto her clothes as I don't really fancy sticking pins in her. Thanks for any advice offered x

The supermarkets have got star costumes in, about £6 if that is a possibility?! I've also seen about three in charity shops over the last couple of weeks. I think they store seasonal stuff and so there are lots of costumes on offer right now if you've a chance to trawl.

If you plan to make one however, I'd just make a cardboard shaped star and hot glue gun (got mine from Home Bargains) or staple onto a headband. Cover it in glitter or foil. You could glue tinsel around the edges if you are going for it.

Tinsel (tied/loosely sewn) around waist, cuffs and ankles should do the job! Hope this helps.

My dd's outfit is a tinsel affair. I've sewed it on.

DD is a star too. She has made a tinsel star on a headband at school (i've not seen it) and needs a piece of gold tinsel as a sash.

White clothes, big length of tinsel over one shoulder, diagonally down her front, round the waist, diagonally back up over the other shoulder, tie it to itself at the back. Or two loops of tinsel she can put on herself.

I work in a well known chain of craft shops - today I had 12 - TWELVE - mums and 2 dads come in asking for views on how to do a star costume - what IS it with stars this year!!!! We have sold out of glittery stars today! And gold fabric paint...

Thank you so much for all the suggestions, it's so hard when you have nobody in rl to ask for such advice. Thanks again x
