Dp's just suggested getting some smellies for dss for Christmas. I'm not sure what to get though? Is there an 'in' scent? I was thinking cologne and body spray?

How old?

Under 14 then lynx Grin

Over 14 then something like joop is still quite popular

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 09:01

Thanks. Ds2 likes Lynx. He's 13 but it's so strong. DS1 is 16 so I'll have a sniff of Joop when I'm out shopping.

How long have you got to make a decision? I could ask DNephew (he of the half hour twice daily showers and bathroom like a cosmetic counter) but I won't get a reply till this evening. It's a good idea though.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 13:23

Thanks yes ask him not shopping until tomorrow.

Will do.

Lynx and diesel seem to be popular with my teenage step sons.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 13:56

Thanks Marne.

Mine love all things Hollister. Only at Christmas do they get £8 deodorant!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 13:58

Cheers Eastwickwitch.

Lynx seems to be the popular choice in the PE changing room (my son is 12)

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 13:59

Where do I get Hollister?

bigTillyMintspie · 02/12/2013 14:00

Lynx, but I hate the sprays - stink the whole house out!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 14:01

Ds2 does use Lynx but tbh I hate them too.

my son is coming up for 12. I've got him his very first Lynx gift set this year. The Apollo version.

He likes the advert :)

bigTillyMintspie · 02/12/2013 14:07

You can get Lynx roll-ons!

bruffin · 02/12/2013 14:12

My DS prefers the FCUK. Its cheaper in boots if you buy singularly rather than giftsets

Eastwickwitch · 02/12/2013 14:13

Ah Hollister. You have to go to the shop which is manned by prepubescent model types, is essentially impossible to navigate by any one over the age of 25 & is totally dark. Take a torch & wander round aimlessly until a toddler takes pity on you & leads you to a beautiful shelf named "Dudes''. Buy everything you can, throw your credit card at them and runaway quickly to the heaven that is the John Lewis cafe.
Or shop online.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 14:18

Lynx roll ons!!! I never knew.

Thanks Eastwickwitch, sounds like my sort of shopping Xmas Wink

OK. I am advised that the really 'in' (and decent) stuff to buy is

Paco Rabane 1 Million
Gucci’s Guilty
Diesel – Only the Brave

I think they all come in sprays/cologne.

It would depend on your available budget of course - I have no idea how much they cost - but having a sniff of them at a counter would also give you an idea of suitable smells. (And perfume counter people will often make suggestions of cheaper stuff with similar fragrances if they see a stricken look on your face.)

skillsandtea · 02/12/2013 20:40

I'd try Superdry. Much more easily available than Hollister and v cool too.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 22:33

Thanks you two. Am off sniffing in the morning.

Cool water is loved by everyone in my family. It smells fresh and clean not at all overpowering. One of my personal favourites is Fahrenheit.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 02/12/2013 23:47

Cheers MunchMunch. Dp has cool water and I had suggested that as I love it. He said that's his smellie! Xmas Grin

^^ made me howl with laughter! So true Xmas Grin

I was about to suggest Cool Water. Lovely light scent - noticeable but not overpowering. I have also bought eldest DS a selection of TopMan goodies in Boots consisting of shower gel, hair product and body spray. They smell gorgeous - made with (identifiable) essential oils as opposed to something purporting to be natural but which stinks like a Glade plug in. I may even steal it myself.

Joop is nice but very dated now .

Millionaire has been a top seller since last year , can never go wrong with anything Hugo boss or Lacoste .

But for his age I would say paul smith , the blue one (not sure on actual name) is very nice and not over powering
