Dd (5) and I were talking about baby Jesus last night, she's learning about it at school - we are not particularly religious. I told her baby Jesus was born in a stable with the animals and she said "poor baby Jesus, he didn't have a tv or a remote control or a pillow pet", she was so solemn about it, I couldn't stop laughing!

She also sings "we wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Ear!"

I love it, she's adorable !

We have 'farmer Christmas' in our house... I expect he'll arrive on a tractor & not a sleigh this year!

NannyWaines13 · 02/12/2013 06:51

The little one I nanny for (4) went to see Santa last weekend and said "I want a guitar for Christmas. If I don't get one you're not true!" Her poor mum was mortified!

DisneyAddict88 · 02/12/2013 08:42

until recently dd ( 5 ) was convinced it was baby cheeseus!!

My son doesn't have much speech (he is autistic) so I didn't expect him to have any funny Christmas things but keeps showing my his Advent calendar and saying 'Christmas doors' which is cute.

I love hearing about the funny things other children say, it is so cute.

My ds3 keeps talking about that little boys birthday party he's going to, can he go, when is it etc he means Jesus!

My 7 year old dd and I was talking about christingle as she hadn't heard of it then said oh is that why we always have Pringles at Christmas?

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 02/12/2013 10:12

Last year when DD3 was 2.4 the nursery took all the toddlers and preschoolers to a farm. They acted out the nativity and then went to see Father Christmas. She took one look at him and started crying saying he was going to eat her.

Ds is still persisting in calling it an advert calendar - but then he has shown more of an interest in the Simpsons since choosing that one so maybe he is wiser than I give him credit for.

Pascha · 02/12/2013 10:56

Awww. We have Farmer Christmas here too Xmas Grin

fatballerina · 02/12/2013 10:59

My DD (4) likes to sing 'great tidings we bring to you and your thing'-they have their pre-school christmas concert coming up Blush

Quenelle · 02/12/2013 11:01

DH had to cook 4yo DS dinner out of the freezer last week so served up fish fingers, chips and spaghetti hoops.

When he saw it, DS was so excited. His little face lit up and he exclaimed Thank you Daddy! Is this Christmas dinner?

He's going to be so disappointed on December 25th.

BeanoNoir · 02/12/2013 11:48

2 yr old dd thinks Christmas songs are called Harold (helicopter from Thomas the Tank Engine) instead of Carols. Think that one's going to stick in our house!

TheXmasLogIn · 02/12/2013 12:15

DisneyAddict88 MY friend is a teacher and her reception class are doing a nativity about little mice looking for 'Baby Cheesus'

When DD was little, she called FC 'Hohoho'- he still signs letters to her with this name. She also called stockings, socklings- it was so cute and I was a little bit sad when she started saying it properly.

Pancakeflipper · 02/12/2013 12:20

We had Farmer Christmas! In fact DS1 who is 8 only corrected himself last year ( we never told him the correct version).

DS2 is 5 and learning the songs for the nativity at school. Apparently Mary is going to Bedleyham and the singkeeper says no brooms.

Cathycat · 02/12/2013 12:36

"I believe in Santa but tooth fairies! That is just silly! As if tooth fairies are real!" :-)

CarolPrankster · 02/12/2013 12:46

When DS1 was about 4yo we lived in rural Essex, early one misty December morning I was driving across country to drop him off at school when a large deer jumped down the bank and landed on the road in front of us - it has antlers and everything - as I was catching my breath after the emergency stop, DS was busy getting out of the car to look for Father Christmas Grin
