I have got my daughter, who will be 22 months at Xmas, a Baby Stella. This is a plush toy, soft bodied, not as easy to wash as plastic dolls, but more cuddly for very little ones. There are various accessories; in particular bottles and dummies that apparently have a magnetic attachment to the doll's mouth, which I suspect DD will like.

I didn't particularly want dolls peeing or pooing or with an electronic voice.

My daughter got a bog standard own brand John Lewis baby last Christmas. It is just a doll, none of the fancy stuff and has a soft body. It has been a much loved toy. Perhaps they are doing something similar this year?

Corolle dolls are lovely. My DD has the corolle calin which she got for her 1st birthday. She will be getting corolle Choquette which is a toddler doll with long hair to brush for Christmas (bought from Tesco direct). They also do baby dolls. I've found Tesco direct and Amazon to be the cheapest place to buy them.
I hope you find a doll you and DD like!
