If you have a 16 or 17 yo son with no particular interests beyond computer gaming what are you getting him for Christmas?

I have 2:

17 yo only interested in computer gaming
16 yo slightly more interested in the outside world, eg geography/science but not particularly actively. Otherwise, computer gaming like his brother.

Neither are interested in clothes, phones or sport.
Neither can think of anything they want.

Younger one might read occasionally, has a liking for popular classical music (but can download what he wants from the pc) and has at times expressed an interest in owning a knife - I think he means a penknife - and a three cornered hat

Sigh. Yes life with them isn't easy! Any ideas? What are you getting your equally difficult 16/17 yo (if you have one)?

I would ask them what they want for the computer (game, new bit of kit etc), and buy that. At least you know it would be used!

Don't know if this is any good, but I'm getting my (14yo) son an Elgato game recording....thingy. It records games they play on the xbox (or pc) so they can edit and add sound to them and then post them on Youtube.

It's a bit pricey but the only thing he wanted (apart from a new set of headphones/microphone that he'll be getting for his birthday).

That elgato thingy looks interesting. Too expensive to buy them one each though. Is it something that can be shared between 2 pcs? (they have a laptop each). I am going to get my far more techy dh to take a look as I'm afraid I don't understand the details.

They do enjoy watching other people's games on youtube though so the idea is not without merit.

Do they go out occasionally? Would they be interested in the Cineworld Christmas box? It contains a voucher for x 2 2/3D tickets, 2x regular drinks, x 2 Galaxy chocolates and one regular popcorn for £20.

It is v good value when considering that a single cinema ticket is about £10.

If it's PC gaming they're into, you can get vouchers for a website called Steam (they sell the vouchers in Game stores) which can be used to download PC games. My brother is a PC gamer and he always gets Steam vouchers. So rather than having the physical disc of a game you just download it straight to your computer. Think it might be a bit cheaper or I could just be making that up as I know nothing about PC games

Spaulding thank you. We were talking about Steam earlier because they said any games they wanted they would get from Steam. We weren't sure if you get vouchers - good to know you can, and where they come from. I hate the thought of them not having proper presents to open on the day, but if push comes to shove, Steam vouchers would at least be appreciated.

Buying some of mine gaming glasses. You can expensive ones made by gunnar or ones from game that cost £30 . They are really good for the eyes and make gaming better according to my eldest computer geek son

My DC are all into gaming. For my DS of a similar age there is:

Driving lessons for the 17-yr-old? Otherwise there's usually a major new game out around Xmas, and they're not cheap so would be fine as a present.
