She says she doesn't need anything, as usual. I would like to spend about £100 on her as that is how much I have spent on her sisters. Her main interest is music - last year we got her a guitar. She spends a lot of time in her room writing songs and putting them on Youtube - anyone technosavvy got any ideas about stuff that she could use to do that - she has a usb microphone and a webcam. I thought about a video camera but she says she is happy using the family one. She is also mad about Dr Who and Supernatural and various obscure Youtubers/bands. Would be really grateful for ideas

I don't know much about webcams but perhaps look at getting her an upgrade for that if its something she uses lots.
Maybe a really nice quality journal and pen set for her to write her songs?
Thinkgeek has lots of Dr Who stuff.
My guitar mad brother is getting a bracelet made of guitar strings from Etsy.

What other stuff is she in to ? Would she like an experience day ?
It doesn't have to be a spa day, maybe something like pot holing ?
Or could you buy tickets to see a favourite band, money towards a festival next year ?

I'd start here.

I presume she doesn't have an amplifier?

MissMillament · 01/12/2013 13:19

Yes, I think a better webcam is a good idea - her's is just the basic laptop one.
A guitarstring bracelet sounds cool even though she never wears jewellery, she might wear that.
lljkk my mum got her an amplifier last Christmas to go with the guitar.
The Dr Who stuff is good thanks.
Arya, she might like an experience day. She wanted tickets to Summer in the City but it sold out within 20 minutes online and we never even managed to get through. Sad

My dd is 15 and they could be twins!
Her Christmas list consists of another electric guitar and a bass guitar ( haha some hopes!), guitar tuner and another guitar stand. And a better video editor. I'm looking for other ideas as well.

Thanks for the Etsy jewellery idea! I have bookmarked a gorgeous necklace and bracelet for my mum to get her. Would never have thought of that myselfGrin

Sibelius 7 for her computer if she wants to transcribe her songs?
Avid Sibelius First - Version 7 (PC/Mac) is about £75 from Amazon

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/12/2013 19:28

This could be my dd2 too! I had a massive thread on here a couple of weeks ago, so that might be worth a read?

So far we've got her:

a guitar strap
some Calvin Klein unisex scent (not girly!)
some old horror films on DVD

A USB microphone sounds good - off to google those now!

Do they do any music camps near you? Book her onto one of those to help her with her recording etc.
