MIL and my parents can't come and we're not going there for the first time ever. So it's time to start our own family traditions. Anyone got any ideas for how to do this? Usually we get up, presents, go to MIL's and spend the day there. This time....??

I make sure i get up first and have a coffee and an hour to myself before the madness begins. It is my absolute favourite time of the day other than seeing the kids faces!

Normally have to wake mine up...they open santa presents, then we have breakfast.Normally rolls baked in the oven , scrambled eggs smoked salmon. After breakfast we open the presents under the tree so the kids can appreciate who they came from.

The rest of the is spent just playing with their toys and me slaving away cooking the dinner.

Have dinner around 4pm, maybe watch movie and have xmas tea time sambos and cake, then off to bed for kids and sleep realx on the couch for us.

Ours is really low key ..we dont go out or get any visitors but my family come from overseas on the 28th and we have lovely few days and celebrate the new Year together.

We have never had Christmas Day just us at home so this year the plan is as follows:

Get up and open stockings.
Breakfast.
Get dressed.
Get the dinner started.
Open presents under the tree.
Watch a festive film.
Eat dinner.
Take kids out on their new bikes.
Either visit family or have them visit us.

I don't know how smoothly things will go and we might want to change things around on the day. Usually we stay at the in laws or head up there after breakfast on Christmas Day so it will be a bit weird being just the 4 of us but we are looking forward to it.

We have a onesie day with new ones mixed in with presents. We have croissants for breakfast, tidy up the wrapping paper mess and then I'll start lunch. Nothing fancy, a roast dinner with everyones favourite sides.
We then watch a Christmas film and play with new toys.

Nothing extra special but we enjoy it.
