Balance bike or normal bike for 3 yr old?

Wondered what people thought? My DS will be 3 in December.

Dd has just turned 3. She got a balance bike aged 2 and has been mainly disinterested so is getting a normal bike for Christmas as she's ridden her brothers old one before...

Balance bike definitely. Or normal bike with pedals removed.

Dd went straight to a pedalled bike, without any help, after her balance bike. None of the faff of learning to balance that her older brother went through (with me running alongside!)

My DD is refusing to use the balance bike we got her as it doesn't have pedals. We got it for her 3rd birthday.

My kids had a balance bike, but I also made sure they had a pedal bike (cheap one from a car boot) to use aswell....that made sure they knew how to pedal too. Seemed to work ok for us.
