Most thoughtful gift you've ever given?

Thinking back, some of the most memorable (for them) gifts I've bought for loved ones gave been the cheapest.

When I was skint years ago, For DH (then boyfriend!) I went to Woolworths pick n' mix and picked out all the Quality Street strawberry cremes, his fave sweet ever. I managed to get about 30, put them in a little red gift box and he was over the moon. Still brings it up the odd time.

My proudest one though was probably an ex, he went on and on about a book he loved as a boy, but couldn't remember the title or author. Using my awesome googling skills I tracked it down on amazon or ebay and he got it on Xmas day, was most touched and impressed Grin

Anyone want to share their stories? Doesn't have to be a superscrimper special like mine! This year he's getting a blu ray player!

Mine was back in 1991.

I was a 17 year old single mum in a shitty rented house with a 1 month old DD.

My nan & grandad (who lived miles away) sent me a microwave through the post must have cost a bloody fortune.

I cried that day. I don't think I've ever been so grateful for anything else since.
