Anyone else considering 'growing' candy canes in sugar?

I got sent a facebook meme thing about planting green tic-tac 'seeds' in a bowl or cup of sugar overnight, where they grow into candy canes. I thought this might be a nice idea for the night before Christmas Eve. Anyone else thinking of doing it?

Eh? Growing tic tacs, are you sure its not a wind up or am I misreading you Grin

There is a site in the USA which has something along these lines - about creating a Christmas Tradition - not sure if I would have the energy or children to pull this off everyday - I used to have trouble looking after goldfish let alone a glitter/candy cane fest - but I guess if you have the same...

Was is this you thinking about ??

I'm assuming its just a trick. You plant tic tacs and the exchange them for candy canes when the children are in bed.

DustyBaubles · 27/11/2013 20:01

No, because its hard enough having a child of 9 who still believes in FC. If he started telling people candy canes grow from tic-tacs, he be slaughtered.

I realise this is entirely my own fault by the way Grin

Yes, sorry I should have made it clear that I wasn't expecting them to actually grow Grin I did think it was quite sweet but I might be making a rod (sorry) for my own back

I thought you were actually going to grow candy canes when I read your OP Grin Blush

I am a touch disappointed! But it would be a nice 'thing to do' for our re-useable advent calendars, so ty for the idea Smile
