I'm having a dilemma about what wrapping paper to get.

I love this from john lewis but I'm usually a wilko wrapping paper girl so I'm finding it hard to take the plunge into paying £3 a roll.

What are you going for? Inspire me!

Im going with the theme of seeing what it left over from last year when it all gets brought down from the loft at the weekend! Grin

I also got some mistletoe wrap 3 for 2 (£7 for the 3!!!) From Waitrose. It has the handy graph lines on the back which is always handy when wrapping whilst enjoying some Christmas spirit.

Happiestinwellybobs · 27/11/2013 19:38

Lidl brown paper design and traditional ribbon. 99p a roll for 5m of paper. Lovely quality too.

LittleMissRed · 27/11/2013 19:39

I don't plan a theme as such but a few years ago hit on the idea of wrapping all of each dc's presents in the same paper - mainly as we always seem to end up wrapping on christmas eve whilst pissed slightly tiddly on mulled wine, and could never remember what present was for which dc.

I bought some nice red and white Scandanavian type wrapping paper in TK Maxx for grown up presents and think I will make luggage label type gift tags.

BeaWheesht · 27/11/2013 19:52

Stocking stuff is in gaudy santa themed paper.

Other than that its brown, red and gold. Just cheap 3 for £5 from Asda stuff in various designs but similar colours. A few will have red twine or bows on but not all.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 27/11/2013 20:20

From us, classic brown paper with pretty ribbon and also classic from Ikea., Brown with vintage toys on it.

From FATHER CHRISTMAS....dont know.

Has to be something my DD wont spot in the shops...

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 27/11/2013 20:24

Well I just meant anal in terms of regimented and strict! Not soul-less, sorry, although I didn't say that anywhere, seemed to touch a nerve there!
This is one of the things I've ordered from there and I think it's really pretty. So there.
Grin
But there is no theme at all, I just get paper from where I see it and like it, and there are presents from lots of people under our tree, not just from us, so if there were a 'theme', it would be lost.

MrsRandom78 · 27/11/2013 20:29

Same as every year 'the toddler wrapped them. In the dark.' Wrapping is not my strong point! I envy those of you who can produce professional looking creations! Smile

CinnamonPorridge · 27/11/2013 20:30

Theme? My theme is paper around presents. With sellotape. Usually quite last minute. Left over from year before plus new ones, bought cheaply somewhere on offer or charity shop.
We like a colourful pile under the tree.
Sorry.

DollyShouldHaveDumpedStiva · 27/11/2013 20:31

Ha! I have a theme!

We've agreed not to do presents with most people this year, so there's very few presents, but the ones we have got are being wrapped in a massive big roll of brown paper I ordered online for not very much money, with nice ribbons that can be reused. If I'm feeling fancy I may get my felt tips out and draw stars on in red and green, but only if I've got time!

My 18-month old is an exception as he's never opened presents before and the brown paper is quite thick, so he's got white and purple snowflake-printed tissue paper, as it's easier to tear.

mrsyattering · 27/11/2013 20:40

just got 4 rolls of 10 metre 2 x red and white stars 2 x blue and white stars for dd and ds. makes them easy to sort on the morning. From one of those bargain book places today.
Will get another roll for the grown ups usually plain, and can be used for birthdays after Christmas.
Pre dcs everyone had their own colour, matching tags, ribbons, bow the lot! can't be bothered now ;)

honeybeeridiculous · 27/11/2013 20:43

I've bought a 36 metre roll of paper from Costco for £9 so everyone will have the same theme whether they like it or not!! It's quite pretty, silvery snowflakes

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 27/11/2013 20:44

I've got plain navy paper and I've bought thick white satin ribbon. Going to write names on in white chalk pen. Quite excited!

Dilidali · 27/11/2013 22:10

lovely, who sells plain navy paper, please?

WhereIsMyHat · 27/11/2013 22:11

I think my use of the word 'theme' was poor and made me sound like an arse. Sorry, I should have left that word out.

I love tiger fr wrapping paper and tags. That place is dangerous.

Haha, I think I need to join the anal camp Grin

Each of the DDs have their own roll of paper from FC. Usually involving pictures of himself, but different colours, so I know which present belongs to which child.

The DDs then have a roll of paper for the presents they give out. They choose this, so any colour.

Then I have the paper for under the tree. This year, I'm looking for red / white, but can't see anything I really like. I agree with the previous poster who said the choice of wrapping paper is really dull this year. I then decorate them - if I like you and it's a present That sits under the tree, then beautifully accessorised with organza ribbons, little interesting trinkets added etc. If you're not in favour, it's cheap curling ribbon! Grin Hence the need for colours... The ribbon I reuse year on year, so the paper needs to match the ribbon!

snowmanshoes · 28/11/2013 07:44

From the man in the red suit I buy the paper from BHS that has Santa and I think its penguins this year on (always differs slightly but close enough to use rolls form previous years!) but it always has little labels printed on that says From Santa - hence no need for tags!
DD& has got silver paper with little Japanese dolls on as this is her 'thing' at the minute (last year it was tatty Teddy, year before Hello Kitty)
DD2 has got festive Disney Princess
Everyone else has got red or red and gold, although I did buy a roll of Purple paper with horrid pink reindeer on as my dd begged me for it, so some relatives pressies are wrapped in that!!!
I always plan on matching everything, getting nice riboon and bows but never get round it - I will one year hopefully!

stickysausages · 28/11/2013 07:55

Brown paper looks lovely, I did it a couple of years ago with red gingham ribbon, and a cinnamon stick or candy cane in each bow Grin

Last year was silver, red & white.

This year I fancied the tweedy tartan from Wilkinson.....

DS's are all wrapped in red 'from Santa' paper - has to be different from all the other ones Wink

Pollywallywinkles · 28/11/2013 07:55

Guilty of the wrapping paper having to match the tree! Each person will have a particular paper used for their presents, so I can see at a glance whose is whose without having to need labels for DH and DD. will tend to label guest gifts. Sometimes I will use a coloured ribbon to differentiate.

Oddsocksrus · 28/11/2013 08:01

We have big rolls of metallic paper, green, blue, red and silver this year, ribbons in red or silver and tags from the nursery's art project designed by dd :)
This is the most coordinated we have ever been and I got the paper thinking it will do birthdays through the year

Santa is a good recycler, he uses last years paper

Facebaffle · 28/11/2013 08:07

I love to see a nicely wrapped present. Nothing anal about that Smile

I spend ages going around all the shops deciding on the perfect paper. I did want a bright pink this year but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

dd1 will have the Russian doll on silver from BHS. dd2 may have the paper with sausage dogs on from there.

I've bought 3 rolls from W H Smith. Good quality and also has the grids on the back.

Phantomteadrinker · 28/11/2013 08:24

There HAS to he a theme! It's part of the decorations. I actually get a bit Confused when I give away my nicely wrapped colour co ordinated gifts away from under my tree and get cartoon paper back! I keep that to myself as I'm aware that's not really the spirit! Not chosen paper yet but will obvs go for something that matches the tree decs Smile

ThomasLynn · 28/11/2013 08:25

I have whatever is on top of the wardrobe from last year that I pilfered off my mum the year before, that she's had hanging around since God-knows-when. I believe there are some stripes and fairly sure there's a polar bear one. Could be wrong though.

FC presents are in plain gold, which is bought by the sheet and the remnants are donated straight to the recycling lest tiny eyes espy it.

darkdays · 28/11/2013 08:40

Brown paper with traditional toys printed on it and red twine with small jingle bells and pine comes on the now. They look gorgeous. Grin

nomoreminibreaks · 28/11/2013 08:48

I finish for maternity leave next week and have treated myself to a theme Smile

Bought a huge roll of brown paper from amazon along with red and white gingham ribbon, luggage tags and some stamps (a nice to & from one for the tags and a snowflake one). Also a cheap bag of mini wooden pegs to hold them on and a load of brown paper bags for smaller bits that are a pain to wrap and some red and white tissue paper.

This just made me realise I am a massive loser...

Hope I get time to do it all properly!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 28/11/2013 08:50

Wrapping is my favourite bit of Christmas preparation apart from bargain finding....

I am going vintage green and red this year for the adults (nostalgia for my 70s childhood kicking in) and the usual animals in the snow for dd.

I have my eye on some lovely traditional wrap in Selfridges and HoF but am waiting a week or so until the BOGOFs and half prices kick in.
