Taking a 3 month old baby to see Father Christmas. Is this nonsense?

DD will be 3 months old at Christmas- big gap between her and DS2 (10 years)- he gave up 'believing' quite a few years ago but quite sweetly said yesterday that he is now excited about christmas as DD is here and he wants to see her with FC.

I think its possibly too young (she wont have a clue etc) but the photo would be nice to keep etc etc.

????

waste of time and money??

(since birth of DD we have all become a bit smitten and misty eyed and are making a lot of decisions that are ridiculously ruled by our hearts- which she has stolen (VOMIT) )

I'm sure there'll be a 'free' Santa at a local
Garden centre or somewhere like that. Just get a photo on your phone.

I did it last year with DS2, who was only 2mo at the time. And DS1 too, of course - he was 5 at the time. The difficulty is getting them to smile at the camera when the big scary beardy bloke in a red suit is holding them, of course...
But we got a reasonable photo out of it. :)

oh bless! based on the thread title i was going to say it is total nonsense, but i've changed my mind because DS2 is so sweet and will love to see her go and meet FC

there are plenty of free grottos round here... I'd just look for a free one and do that, and ask if you can take a photo?

My 6mo is going to see FC but will probably be asleep in the sling while his big brother (2.5) gets the attention and present. I wouldn't, probably, unless i convinced myself it's for the 10yo and tell him it's for the baby.

Know what you mean about ickle cuteness DS1 is just starting to notice Christmas lights etc and it's magical experiencing it through his eyes.

Of course it's nonsense and of course you should do it for your DS! So long as she's not scared by it - might be best if you could get your DS holding her with FC in the background.

I think DS2 would love to be holding her in the pic.

Good idea about the garden centre 'free' ones- ive seen some of those locally.

We are taking DD to see Santa in a few weeks, she'll be 7months old, she has no older brothers or sisters, we just want to do it!!

I took my pfb to see Santa at 5 months old. The picture is adorable, i don't give a shiny shite how ridiculous it was! He is 6 now and I love that pic even more.

Ah, our DS sounds lovely. I would take her and him, just because he wants to go with her. The picture will be lovely too. I bet gradparents would lovea copy of it as well, maybe on their Christmas cards.

DS was six weeks old. I had a very serious conversation with DSS1 (aged 7) where I had to convince him I wouldn't forget to put out a mince pie and drink as he felt DS was too little to do it and Santa may not have registered there was a new baby.

There is plenty I'm doing this year. None of which is really for DS.

It is nonsense but it's Christmas and if you can't have nonsense at Christmas then when can you?

Take her! No one will judge and for all they know your DS still believes.

He sounds lovely, btw. :)

Not silly at all. Think of the photo op.

DS1's birthday is very close to xmas. I'd have taken him to see santa at a few days old if we hadn't still been in hospital

ds2 is a summer baby, I have the photo of him and santa when he is 6 months old.

Its wonderful that your older child suggested it.

I would go - but only for the photo. We put the kids pics with Santa up every year of all the years previously and its so nice seeing how they have changed year on year :)

My absolute favourite photo in the world is of my nephew and my cousin, both 3 months old, both in little Santa suits, being held by Santa. It is So Frigging Cute. You have to do this.

I've told ds2 that we will visit FC with DD.

He is so sweet- he said "I think I might start believing in FC again for the baby- I can help her put the carrot and mince pies out for rudolph and FC, she is too little"

Have to admit I filled up a bit.

I took ds to the Santa's grotto at Westfield when he was 4 months old - it was a big ridiculous affair that involved an elf taking photos of kids with an iPad and then everyone filing into a 3d theatre to watch a film where the kids faces featured in the film! However, when ds' s face came up on the screen, I blubber behind my 3d glasses, it was so cute!

The meeting Santa bit was good too! 3 months is never too young!

we went one year to see the one in Center Parcs with my two and my sisters two - she had a 4 year old and a 4 month old, I had a two year old and a one year old - we queued for ages, the excitement building....brilliant Santa and grotto - only one who didn't scream was the baby - so we ended up with 4 photos of him with Santa and none of any of the rest of them :)

So, possibly the last photo opportunity for a few years OP - i'd go for it!

Only problem is the queues. With an older child there's plenty to look at (I took my DS when he was 3yo) he spent the queue time looking at all the toys and the Elves.

With a tiny child I'd want to time it so I'm not hanging about too much.

IIRC Bluewater did booked times rather than queuing but it was years ago I went there,

If you asked that question in the absence of the lovely older ds I would laugh at you and think how silly, but given the context its actually for the benefit of the older ds and that's very sweet.

Oh you have to! A photo of the two kids on baby's first Christmas will be really sweet, make a little family tradition and you might keep him Christmas keen into his teens :)

Well- Ds2 and I took DD to a local garden centre yesterday morning to see FC. Bless DS2, he went in with DD and sat with FC- really put on an 'act' that he still 'believed'.
I took some lovely pics of DD with Father Christmas (will post one to my profile if I can remember how to do it!).

I have a very special picture of DS2 and DD with FC but DS has begged me never to post it anywhere. Its a lovely picture and something I will cherish.

We went into the little coffee shop afterwards and had hot chocolate and cake.

it was lovely.

I took my 5mo with her big brother. She seemed to like all the lights and we got a lovely photo with both of them on with fc. I took ds last year when he was 9 months and got a lovely photo then too. My plan is to get a photo every year while they are little and use themas part of the christmas decorations in my house. Its a lovely festive keepsake imo
