I have asked her mum for ideas and she said 'anything to do with owls' - - apparently that's her latest thing.
She seems really grown up for 10 and also quite big for her age so I want to avoid clothes, pjs etc as I think she's quite sensitive about wearing much bigger/adult sizes.
Do you think these would be ok, or are they a bit shit?
Fluffy socks
canvas bag - I was thinking of the 'cross body owl beige' design
I'm used to buying for younger boys so bit clueless on this!

My DD would love the bag but would not be particularly thrilled with the socks (although she is not a particular owl fan)

orangepudding · 25/11/2013 13:56

My DDs would love both of those.

curlew · 25/11/2013 13:58

Primark have some fab owl socks at the moment............

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 25/11/2013 13:59

I think both/either would be fine. There are loads of owly things around at the moment though, if you're not sure.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 25/11/2013 14:03

I own a 10 yr old owl maniac, and she would love love love those.

In fact, off I go to buy some myself!

(btw, lots and lots of cheap-as-chips owl jewellery etc on Amazon)

feetheart · 25/11/2013 14:08

Ditto DrankSangriaInThePark re 10 yr old and nicking the ideas.
Thanks OP - DD will love both as would any other 10yr old owl fan :)

Boots have owl handwarmers and lots of owl things in their cute or what range - some fab looking owl shaped baths fizz. And it's all on 3 for 2

DrankSangriaInThePark · 25/11/2013 14:39

hey ho hey ho, it's off to Boots we go....Grin

Debenhams also have lots of owl stuff, and they have those same bags- worth checking if there are any % codes to make them cheaper. (dd already has the blue owl satchel, and the green owl rucksack)

There are some lovely owl mobiles and decorations on ebay too.

jellybrain · 25/11/2013 14:43

Dd has the satchel style bag. It's really roomy and strong too.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 25/11/2013 14:46

I take it your owl mad children have seen this?

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 25/11/2013 14:46

newlook have owl purses and ceramic storage pots too.

primark had a set of 3 owl shaped lip balms for £3

exexpat · 25/11/2013 14:49

DD (just turned 11) would love the bag, but might prefer socks in a brighter colour. There are loads of owl things around at the moment, so they are not hard to find. We found some sets of lip-balm in owl shaped containers at Primark (like these but cheaper), which we put in the party-bags for her birthday, and they seemed to go down well with her 10yo friends.

exexpat · 25/11/2013 14:50

x-posts with dontletthem re owl lip balm!

NewBlueShoesToo · 25/11/2013 15:10

My ten year old daughter has just been given an owl hottie (microwave hot wheat thing for bed time) which she loves.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 25/11/2013 15:28

Lots of owl stuff on the RSPCA website as well.

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 25/11/2013 17:25

Wow owls must be popular for young girls at the minute, some more great ideas here, thanks everyone!
How did I not think of Boots, 3 for 2 and I get staff discount there!
Next time I'm somewhere with a primark I will have a look for socks/lip balm etc. Think I will order the bag now so at least I can feel a bit organised :D

Thanks everyone!

TKMaxx have the owl print cross body bag & WHSmith have all sorts of owl print stationary etc.

ettiketti · 26/11/2013 06:07

Love that bag, my 11yo dd has similar for school but prefers the satchel style. She just bought herself this hot water bottle and a Chisholm in the same range I can't find online.

ettiketti · 26/11/2013 07:00

Chisholm ?????
