Present for 6yo 'who has everything'

DDs have loads of toys, mainly due to my complete softie of a DH who can't pass a toy shop if his life depended on it.

DD2 (2yo) is sorted (play shop from Santa, scooter from my parents, random bits and pieces from everyone else)

DD1 is harder, partly because she's going through a very girlie stage (dress-up, ballet, crystals etc) which is pretty alien to me. Santa is bringing her a new bike, which is well needed, and MIL is buying various crafty bits. But my parents want to buy her something, and they prefer one big-ish present rather than lots of small ones (not necessarily expensive, last year it was a swingball type thing that cost the equivalent of about £30).

But I have no idea what to suggest. She already has a scooter, and a innotab thing from when we moved to NZ (Santa was very clever and knew a 36 hour trip required something small and interesting), and loads of crafty things. She doesn't need anything else. But my folks are on the other side of the world, are upset not to be spending Christmas with us, and want her to have something from them.

Any ideas?

if she was like me as a 6yo they could do what they did for me, a big box of books. Unfortunately, or fortunately, she's not like me and is a lot more physical/outdoorsy, so it's not really an option

Tickets for a panto or Christmas show.

Pogosticks · 25/11/2013 06:34

A novelty onesie, but decent, ie next rather than primark?Provides lots of photos for your parents. Or a set of the dreaded Rainbow Fairy books. Sparkly girlie crap but still books....

Dolls house?

nagynolonger · 25/11/2013 06:38

Sorry just realised you are in NZBlush.

vvviola · 25/11/2013 06:45

Yep, nagynolonger, that causes a problem on the panto front. My DPs tried to take the kids to one when try visited last Christmas, only to find that most of them are done in July Shock

But I wonder is there some kind of post-Christmas show they could get her tickets to...

this sort of thing? My 5 yo got some last year & loves them.

vvviola · 25/11/2013 06:57

Oh god Arabella that looks like my worst nightmare, but is probably right up DD's alley Grin. Shall have a look if they are available here and Santa might give it if my parents don't.

I'm originally from NZ but live in uk, my parents send y DS clothes for christmas and birthdays, they can buy them in the sales due to opposite seasons & it means my DS isnt wearing the same stuff as all the other kids.

Your parents get your DD a uv swimsuit & towel (girly but practical)? Or a decent winter coat & snow boots (depending what part of NZ you are in).

I bought my DD 5 a jewellery box like this Amazon

Its got the fairy theme but its useful as well Smile

Dressing up outfit? Apparently Disney store has new Frozen dresses for the new film. Alternatively TK Maxx have some really lovely medieval type dresses (at least my local one did)

BeaLola · 25/11/2013 11:04

Dolls houseor perhaps a girly play tent for the garden, musical jewellery box, tickets for ballet

Mollydoggerson · 25/11/2013 11:13

Stencils and markers. Sounds boring but they can spend hours tracing from stencils. Mine love them anyway. New markers are always good.

Pottery painting sets, can spend ages drawing and painting on them and a great sense of achievement after they have been fired in the oven.

A hamster(?), little ball of furry fun.

A dressing up box with 5 or 6 dress up outfits. Hours of play!
