Talk to me about Christmas decorations...

We have always done handmade christmas decorations and kept it fairly minimal. This year though I would like to spend some money on Christmas decorations and get some that are classic enough to last a few years.

So need fairy lights for the tree, ceiling and wall decorations.

Was wondering what colour schemes others have gone for, and any things they recommend or think we should stay away from.

also prices, if you have them.

I'm going for white this year to fit in with living room colours. Doesn't seem to be many decs in shops this year - I think the more money you spend the longer they last ie lights - we sell them at work from a company called premier (maybe they have a web?)

Does Tiger have a branch near you? Really nice, inexpensive stuff in there!

This year I've made some beaded candy canes to go with lollipops and gingerbread snowmen on the tree. Have bought some red & white jingle bells to go with them and will fill empty spaces with red baubles we already have and edible candy canes.

Ceiling decs are going to be a mix of home made and Poundland snowflakes.

I have various other bits and bobs from other years that'll go up too but not sure what yet.

The girls do their own tree in the dining room that looks like a tinsel factory exploded on it & can hang up whatever they like in there so it'll just be a random mish mash of whatever they like.

Price wise I have a variety of quid shop and more pricey decs, I think if you're careful with them (pack up reasonably tidily) then it doesn't matter where they come from so long as you like and enjoy them Smile

White sounds good actually.

No Tiger unfortunately! There is some lovely white sets in John Lewis actually maybe I will pick up a few of those.

I plan on getting fairy lights soon because they always sell out everywhere! I could always order online. Will see if Tiger does an online shop.

I dont mind spending a bit more for something that will last for this year and next.
