Please can you help me find a working nut cracker in the shape of a nutcracker soldier?

This is all 8 yo DS1 has asked for for Christmas! But I'm drawing a blank. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?!

They're really easy to get hold of in Germany, because it's something of a tradition here. So either German Amazon here or a typical Christmas market, if you have one nearby.

Just typed wooden nutcracker into eBay. Plenty there. My DD asked for one at a similar age. Having said that she's never used it to crack a nut!

I am probably bneing thick but I think most of them (if not all) are just decorations, aren't they? And I'm afraid my German (I only know the words for nipple, headache and porcupine) isn't up to working out which if those might be a real nutcracker!

Do I want to know how you know the German for nipple, headache and porcupine?! Clearly your GCSE lessons were more interesting than mine.

Although I do know the German for Guinea Pig.

Homesense used to do them, not sure if they still do though.

There were loads in The Range last week

The Royal Opera House sells them whilst the ballet is on. But they're not that good at actually cracking nuts, though they will do some of the less tough ones.

TheHouseofMirth · 22/11/2013 21:13

Now that would be telling, ooermissus...

I looked on The Range website but they just look like ornaments to me and I don't live near a store. All the ones on eBay are ornamental and I can't workout what the German ones are!

Saw some in tkmax recently although not sure if they were decorations or not? Might be worth a look though.
