When did your DC start getting excited about Christmas?

DS is 2 (though he will be 3 in January). He started nursery in May. The past week or so, when Christmas trees have started going up in shops and stuff he has started pointing through the windows at them and saying "look mummy Christmas tree!!".
they also have a littlr nativity at nursery and he has been practising the songs they are teaching him and talking about Christmas.
So we have been trying to keep it going at home, talking about the nativity and Santa (took him to see Santa last year, he was terrified and I really want him to begin to enjoy it this year).
So, how old were your DC's when they started to feel all excited about Christmas?

Mine were around 3yrs old when they started to enjoy presents a lot and enjoy having the Xmas meal with crackers to pull etc.

At around 4yrs when they've started school and all their friends are excited, and they can remember what happened last year, that's when it gets really crazy and they get themselves into a total tizzy of excitement on Christmas Eve!

When DD was the age of your DS (turned 3, 5 weeks after christmas) she was interested by all the decorations wouldn't leave the tree alone and recognised Santa (called him hohoho) but didn't really 'get it' IYSWIM. She didn't really have the concept of time, so wasn't counting down the sleeps etc, nor the memory of previous years to anticipate what was going to happen.

By the following year it was a whole different story. She had been at nursery 6 months, so that probably helped, but she totally got the whole thing, and it was great Grin DS at 2.9 however was already excited by the whole christmas thing. I think he was probably picking up on his big sisters excitement and knew 'something good' was about to happen, even if he didn't really know exactly what it was yet.

Ds definitely 'got it' at just turned 3. Dd is 3.2 and I think she gets it and she definitely adored her birthday which is obviously a similar idea.
