Christmas books for toddler?

insummeritrains · 19/11/2013 14:28

Have some of the more obvious ones, the snowman, the night before Christmas and am looking for other Christmassy tales for 2 year old DS.

Looking for something similar to Shirley Hughes' Lucy and Tom's Christmas which I can't seem to find anywhere and for some reason is now out of print.

Any other recommendations for old-fashioned, heart warming Christmas stories?

The Christmas miracle of Jonathon Toomey. Though I sob through it.

Jesus' birthday party is fab but modern

santa's noisy night or the littlest reindeer were both big favourites when dd was little

Bear Stays Up for Christmas by Karma Wilson.

Father Christmas needs a wee was always a big favourite in our house! For similar reasons the Dinosaur who pooped christmas is popular too, but I'm guessing these aren't the type of stories you are looking for.

Mr Men books do Mr. christmas and a Litlle Miss Christmas too I think. Also there's a Mr.Snow.

Also The Nativity Play by Nick Butterworth, A very snowy christmas, the Christmas Bear (same illustrator as The Gruffalo) and another one i think is called something like the Gift of Christmas, about a little mouse who is trying to decorate a christmas tree. All picture books so suitable for toddlers, but my 7-8 year olds still love reading them themselves now.

Also love Dream snow book by Eric Carle. As a fun gift I've also just ordered one of these for DS

Sonotkylie · 21/11/2013 18:19

Jolly Christmas Postman? I still love it as does 7 year old DS. It has the post in it like the Jolly postman so maybe too old for a 2 year old but it is lovely. I think we were given it when ds was 3?

hyenafunk · 24/11/2013 08:21

Dear Santa (same makers of Dear Zoo)
Belle and Boo's merry Christmas
Jolly Christmas postman
Laura's Christmas star

hyenafunk · 24/11/2013 08:23

Lucy and Tom's Christmas is on Amazon but it's £20.

Look at Uhohmilo.com - they have a wonderful Christmas picture book, which you can personalise. It's perfect for reading on Christmas eve, and you would be supporting a small independent publisher!

One Snowy Night, by Nick Butterworth.

Calling all those running their businesses from the kitchen table! Juggling childcare, homecare and locked-down partners whilst working to give more storytellers, illustrators and creative educational talent a voice.

Kids deserve access to the wonderful, magical, unheard stories out there.

And parents deserve to have a wider choice at bedtime!

safe lockdown everyone!
