Never had a baby born, but baby annabelles are seriously heavy. It would be hard work for a child under two.

Personally I would buy one without batteries. The talking dolls should be reserved for the children of your worst enemies.

Having said that though, the Annabelle was far less annoying than the cheap equivalent we had, as it does stop crying fairly quickly.

The big Baby Annabell is too large to fit lying down in a lot of toddler dolls prams as well. You could get the smaller my first Annabell which is non-function and a hell of a lot cheaper, or the my first Annabell which wriggles. Usually the functions are a gimmick and often disliked or a nuisance and not used, either because the child disliked them or the parents can't stand them! The best dolls are ones that stimulate the child's own imaginary games imo.

I can't help with battery operated tools, sorry. Again, is it essential that they need this function?

I think the main difference between baby born and baby annabell is that born is hard bodied, so not cuddly, but can get wet and annabell is soft bodied so can be cuddled but not get wet! So it depends what you're looking for in a doll really Smile

The first baby Annabelle is sweet and DD has actually played with this one more than her bigger crying, laughing battery powered one! Baby born dolls didn't seem to have very good reviews so we bought Annabelle for her last Christmas.

The doll she likes best is an ELC one which has some functions but not all the ones Annabelle has - might be worth checking those out too.

I would look at Corolle and Gotz dolls, they are lovely and lots of different sizes really great guide here

I agree actually that the my first baby Annabelle is lovely. I would also add that the baby Annabelle pram is really well made, and has run rings round the cheap one we had. (obviously it fits the larger doll as well as the little one)
