Just don't know. Things have not been good for a couple of years, he finally moved out in April, we have 3 dc together.
It was his birthday in October and I gave him a jumper and hat from me and dc.
Things are amicable and I'd like to keep things that way, I need a gift from me (maybe £10/£15?) and one from dc (£10/15) - total spend max max £30. Nothing which says 'worlds greatest dad' or anything from dc as he was/is a shit dad so.......
He has no hobbies apart from drinking..... He has a good job and tends to buy himself anything he needs.... Aaaggghhh
And yes, I want to get him a gift, so don't need advice about that, I need suggestions for gifts, pretty please :)

How old are dc? Could gift just be from them? With guidance from you.

silkknickers · 18/11/2013 20:38

my exh and I ask each other for things! I think this year he wants a book, and the DCs usually get him some chocolate brazils.

we aim for cheap, neutral presents.

2anddone · 18/11/2013 20:38

Watching with interest I am in the same position as you Lala. Today is exH birthday I got him some cider and a bar of chocolate. I struggled to find a card that didn't say best dad but I managed it!
Need inspiration for Christmas now though!

MrTumblesKnickers · 18/11/2013 20:40

If he's a shit dad maybe a calendar so he can keep track of DC visits?!

SteamWisher · 18/11/2013 20:48

Why not just a card and something from the dc?

LalaDipsey · 18/11/2013 20:58

2andone I also struggled to find a card which didn't say best dad. Sad isn't it? Dd is 4 and twins are 23 months. I did get some photos done of the twins in their first year, which he doesn't know about, and I thought I could maybe get them copied for him. It doesn't then give him anything from dd tho, and he hasn't really bonded well with the twins so......
Can't give him cider/beer/wine etc as one of the reasons we split was his drinking....

I could do a book and chocs... But he doesn't really read at all! He doesn't enjoy films tho so I could get him a DVD.. But then I don't know what he's watched since we've been apart...! Aaaggh

What about a photo mug with the DCs on, or a digital frame loaded up with pics of them?

thereistheball · 18/11/2013 21:06

Yes to the photo mug, or a pottery mug done in a cafe with DCs hand prints on, and their birthdays.

LalaDipsey · 18/11/2013 21:10

Fab idea. Will do a photo mug from them and a DVD from me. Phew. Can't face trying to get DTs to do handprints this year after the handprint bauble fiasco of last year........!

I think there may be a deal over on the bargain thread.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 19/11/2013 01:15

You could do a personalised photo calendar too, and add it to help him as mentioned above.

LalaDipsey · 27/11/2013 15:52

Ok, I can't be arsed to do him a photo anything!!! It's going to take too much effort! Any other suggestions for from the children?!

A large tin of Quality Street or those metre long tubes of chocolates?

Smellies?

Scarf?

Could your dd make a handmade card for him from all of you?

LalaDipsey · 27/11/2013 20:59

A handmade card is a good idea, and maybe sweets/chocs. Thanks.
