Gift for son's new girlfriend?

Ds aged 22 has got a new girlfriend. We have met her and she is lovely Smile. We don't do much in the way of gifts, but I would like to have something for her. Money is really tight due to unemployment.

Sadly I don't know her very well and ds is not being much help!

What do you think a 21 year old would really like?

Nice to hear she is nice! How tight is tight? Smile

i would have liked either a voucher or maybe a little bag of miniature smellies,& a candle maybe that you've chosen, wrapped in tissue paper - that sort of thing

or does she like nail stuff? t k max does good brands - essie and OPI - for cheap

also have a look on asos - they often have gift stuff very cheap

Keep an eye on groupon. I've got loads of presents on there.

scratchandsniff · 18/11/2013 19:44

What's your budget?

SolidGold · 18/11/2013 19:47

I was thinking maybe £10 - £15. Would love to spend more, but not possible at present. I may knit matching fingerless gloves and scarf too though.

She is studying to be a beautician, so has plenty of nail stuff already.

A candle is a good idea, maybe incense?

Thanks, I'll have a look at groupon.

How about soap and glory miniatures from boots. In the 3 for 2 offer so could easily get six different things for around £10. Did this for my DN and she loved it.

Primark do really nice patterned cotton pj bottoms and lovely vests in various colours. I have tons of them and, quite honestly, they feel as good quality as my Cath Kidston ones.

A set of those and a pair of fluffy bedsocks.

Girls love pjs.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 18/11/2013 20:18

I waa going to say nice scarf / hat / Pjs. That's what I always get for db's girlfriend.

SarahJayne321 · 18/11/2013 20:19

I'm 21 and I'd say maybe a nice candle, or something beauty related.

I'm sure she'd be thrilled you got her a present, regardless of what it is.

scratchandsniff · 18/11/2013 20:23

I reckon a nice scented candle, the lily flame ones would be good for her age. About 6/7 pounds in JL/waitrose. And a big bar of chocolate. Who doesn't love chocolate?!

SolidGold · 18/11/2013 20:32

Aw, lovely ideas, thanks. I'll try and get to Primark and see what pjs they have. I'll take a look at the Soap & Glory stuff too.

Of course I don't know what size she is Hmm

Not heard of Lilyflame candle, I'll take a look.

Something from lush or Bodyshop?

raisah · 18/11/2013 20:51

Cineworld gift box for £20 & then they could have a nice night out. Very good value considering a single adult ticket is around £10-12. For £20 you get x2 tickets, x2 drinks, x2 popcorn & x2 bags of sweets.

That Cineworld thing is brilliant!! Wish Odeon did one am in a Cineworldless town

chirpchirp · 18/11/2013 20:59

I was in B&M at the weekend and they had a French Connection perfume and body lotion set for £11.

SolidGold · 18/11/2013 21:56

Cineworld gift is a great idea. Will check if we have one nearby.
