My brother and his fiance are going to be flying back to the states just after christmas and wont be able to take large items back with them. He has suggested vouchers but i wondered if anyone has some good suggestions for small things that can be packed easily. They both have good jobs and can therfore buy most of what they want. I am happy to get vouchers as their main gift but would like a couple of nice little things for them to unwrap too.

On a more practical note, How about a decent bottle of wine/bubbly that they can drink before they leave, or something else that is consumable?

Are there any little local things you could get? There are loads of craft fairs around at the moment.

Jewelry, cufflinks for him. V&a do some nice British kind.
Tshirt (independent type of London shop or pub/restaurant. Bar (as in a local establishment that's bit bit off tourist trail) shirts are popular holiday souvenir in states. Cash for them to spend in duty free is better than vouchers, as it's still part of your holiday experience.
