Are scanned names on personalised Christmas cards naff?

We have to send out 100s of Christmas cards and get a lot of personalised ones back, some have everything printed, names, address etc, others just have address printed and the senders sign personally but more are now being sent with printed address but scanned names (not just companies either, from families with their DC's scrawl included).

Do you think this is a bit weird? I'm wondering if it's the way to go to save my poor arthritic hands but still keep it a bit personal.

Yes its naff. I'd rather send to fewer people and at least write by hand than naps produce something meaningless.

naff

I don't know what this means. How do you know it's been scanned?

DziezkoDisco · 17/11/2013 07:36

We scrapped xmas cards about 3 years ago to all but afew relativve and friends abroad and instead donated the money to charity.

So those few we do, we get the kids to draw individual ones.

Its very liberating!

I have put labels printed with signature on ... but only when dc in reception/yr 1 and writing one signature was all that I could bear to put myself through. As their writing improves and friendship groups shrink they are on their own!

I was slightly agog at the 100s of Christmas cards. That's a lot of people Do you own a small business and have to send to employees and contractors?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/11/2013 07:43

We send/receive about 100, I've never noticed scanned signatures, though we do get a few scanned homemade cards. but it wouldn't bother me, especially if I knew the sender had arthritic hands or similar.

My uncle sends me a card every year with everything printed inside and his address and the only personal bit is the handwritten envelope I always wonder why bother!!

CrotchStitch · 17/11/2013 09:21

Not naff as such, just a bit pointless IMO, unless from a business, in which case it's purely a marketing ploy rather than a meaningful communication over the festive period.
Personally we write all our cards but there's not that many I enjoy it as another part of Christmas but I do know people who loathe them and I always wonder why bother? I feel my card has been sent by somebody who cursed fluently throughout the whole writing process which sort of misses the point.

Thank you everyone! Consensus is that it would be naff so I won't bother. Respect to crotchstitch... Better start writing now... Ho ho ho!
