For some unknown reason I just found myself searching for Funfax on amazon. why are they no longer made, they were AWESOME! Obviously there are old used ones but a lot of the fun was deciding in the shop what one I would get...

What nostalgic toys would you share with your DCs if they were still available?

Ohhh..Romper Stompers! They were these little plastic cups attached to plastic handles. You stood on the cups, held on to the handles, stomped around, fell off, broke your face...it was great fun! I imagine they don't exist any longer as they were slightly injurious..but great fun.

I had a Princess Pippa, really long hair and a sparkly green dress. My DDs would love a Pippa doll but alas they are nowhere to be found.

nancerama · 16/11/2013 23:25

The Big Yellow Teapot.

bridgetsmum · 16/11/2013 23:27

I'm sure I had a doll called "patti painter". It used to "hold" a paintbrush and draw circles on a sort of turntable thing. I've tried googling it but can't find it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. Probably around the mid 1970'sSmile

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 16/11/2013 23:28

A game called Amoeba and. Tressy doll.

CointreauVersial · 16/11/2013 23:49

Ohhhh Lori, I found a box of my old Pippa dolls in DM's loft last year and sold them all on eBay. Made £250!

I had a great craft set when I was younger - I think it was called Plasticraft. You mixed some gloomy stuff with a solvent, and poured it into a mould with feathers, shells or whatever. I used to sniff the solvent! I can't imagine that being sold to children nowadays.

I had another game involving lots of ball bearings, and one day my cousin and I (we must have been about 6) had a competition to see how many we could fit in our mouths at once. All this metallic paint came off in our mouths, and DM made us drink salt water so we were sick. I don't think there were particularly high standards of health and safety in the 70s !

Snoopy.

Ooh I had a Tressy Doll - there was a key or something to twist the hair shorter then you pulled it longer. (I twisted mine right into her head then she had a hole in her head. Looked like she;s been trepanated Shock )

I had the resin that made the moulds . My sister 'helped' by adding too much. It set, but I ran out of hardener so useless after.

I had stencils
Wall Walkers
And the Pippa Dolls (the shoes were tiny)
Sindy Doll (now it's all Barbie Sad )

We still have two big yellow tea pots. My gran brought them down when my ds was wee.

There was a saxophone, by fisher price I think, also yellow, it blew bubbles?

JustRestingMyEyes · 17/11/2013 01:10

Prammy - Check out ebay - as 'vintage' your teapots should bring you a pretty penny used to watch Cash in the Attic

justherewhistling · 17/11/2013 06:26

secretwitch - Search 'Monster Feet' on Amazon. Is that what you mean? I've just bought some for 3yo dd2.

TheWildOnes · 17/11/2013 08:49

secretwitch, Ive bought my DS some of those foot cup things for Christmas this year after he used some at his schools circus day and loved them. got them from eBay for about £8, bargain! I remember playing with them when I was little.

The things I miss are the a la carte kitchen and Lite Brite. They were 2 of my favourite things.

Rooners · 17/11/2013 08:50

I'm looking for a really decent crystal garden growing kit - like we used to make in old Nescafe jars. I can't find one anywhere.

Shaker Makers were EPIC Smile

Rooners · 17/11/2013 08:51

Snoopy (have still got mine, oh yes - and his outfits!) and sindy dolls were my childhood friends.

We had pippas briefly but they all got lost except for two which I bunged on ebay a few years ago.

Barbie was always really fake.

Kelly281 · 17/11/2013 09:15

Definitely Lite Brite, I loved that toy!

Brandnewmamma · 17/11/2013 09:20

I loved my yellow teapot so much.. Ahhhhh

I have bought my baby son a glo worm.. Secretly for me!!!!

The fashion wheel thing was lovely.

I ask loved those books whee you had paper girls and you put new dresses on them.. They had tabs on the side..do you remember them ..?

CrotchStitch · 17/11/2013 09:27

I coveted Mousetrap but never got it :(
With the benefit of hindsight I think that was probably a wise move on my DM's part as I am still recovering from the horror of DS's "Pirate Prison" game. This was a more modern (so presumably better made) Mousetrap type game that took hours to set up, collapsed under a strong sigh and with ball bearings that steadfastly refused to go where they were meant to. I'm sure the charity shop was really grateful for it

justherewhistling · 17/11/2013 09:30

I've bought dd1 a shaker maker this year so they are still about

KringleCandleLover · 17/11/2013 09:36

Lights Alive.... And proper stickle bricks.

justherewhistling · 17/11/2013 09:37

I loved the fahion wheel. Had forgotten all about that. That brings back some happy memories Smile

Is spirograph as good as it used to be?

justherewhistling · 17/11/2013 09:38

Stickle bricks were my favourite toy at nursery. I can still remember playing with them.

Are they not as good now?

BoohPear · 17/11/2013 09:40

I was coming on to say lite bright! I used to love that so much.

plum100 · 17/11/2013 09:42

MatildaMai · 17/11/2013 09:45

I never got a Tressie Angry.

Fisher Price have re-released a few of the old classics, if anyone's interested. My DD is getting a record player and TV for Christmas Grin
