Ours goes up on the second weekend in December normally, although this year I may put it up at the beginning of December as I can barely wait.

All our married life we've never bothered with a tree as dh was posted down south and we'd always come home to glasgow for the holidays. This year is our first Christmas in our own (non army) home and I am so looking fwd to having it all christmassy. Would put them up now if i didn't think people would get all judgie! So excited for our first family christmas in our own house.

It goes up on the first Saturday in December.

But this year it's much too late so it's going up on the 30th of November!

we have now decided to buy tree on the 7th and put it up on the 8th.

we also bought all the kids' presents yesterday (inc. 2 birthday presents for DS3 & DS4).
no surprises, they all chose what they wanted, but I'm so looking forward to them actually receiving what they've been hoping for!

choosing the right gifts for our kids is the biggest pressure, I want them to be happy - now it's done we can relax!Smile

I start ours on 1st Dec OR first Sunday in Advent, whichever is sooner. So last year, end of Nov, this year 1st December it is!

In fantasy-mummy-land, 24 Dec when everything will magically turn super-Christmassy and be worth the wait.

In real life, prob around the 8th because DCs want a "real tree" not the sad balding plasticky one I have had for about 20 years and I can get a pot-grown one in the garden centre I will be passing on the 7th.

Grin clam

Ours up on Dec 7th (DH birthday) and whatever day of the week it is, we make it part of his b'day fun.

Normally get a real tree, but last year it completely died (I know they're technically dead already, but I mean it went brown and looked dead!) by the week before Christmas, so it looked like shite Sad
Hope that doesn't happen again this year...
Who else stands theirs in water and sugar, or any other magic solution, to prolong the freshness?

14th or 15th - we are going away for a few days before that and I don't trust the cats, one of them is likely to trash it/wee on it in the stress of my absence!

PmTea - same happend to us last year. Going fake this year! You need to cut an inch off the trunk as they 'reseal' and can't absorb water otherwise. I also saw a recommendation to drill up into the trunk. Can't be bothered this year so new fake it is!

Ours is going up this weekend. Was going to wait till 13th when DS breaks up from school but want to get some of it done this weekend.

Up 12 days before, down twelve days after. Outdoors lights go up at start of advent, advent calendars come out. Decorate wreath and hang on door for the second week. Christmas music started in October Blush

put ours up last weekend - it is a fake one. Also have the lights outside hanging from the gutter and the lit up silhouettes in the front windows
