Ours goes up on the second weekend in December normally, although this year I may put it up at the beginning of December as I can barely wait.

Even I think it's too early to have decorations up in November, it must cost a fortune.

To the people who put theirs up Nov/beginning of Dec - do you dust your baubles? I put mine up once on dec1st
An they were really dusty by xmas. That put me off

Haribojoe · 15/11/2013 14:14

Ours goes up on pre Christmas Day, last Sunday in November, can't wait Grin

elQuintoConyo · 15/11/2013 14:25

Same DS birthday as BonkeyMollocks ! So ours go up weekend aftewards (no time during week). So, this year 14/15th, taken down 7th January in the morning - DS goes back to nursery, I go back to work 8th.

18 days hols for us this year, can't frickin wait Grin

Anja1Cam · 15/11/2013 15:49

If we're in the UK then the weekend closest to the 6th (St.Nicolas) as he brings treats for the kids. If in Germany then it is revealed afternoon of Christmas eve! And we open the presents then.

SoonToBeSix · 15/11/2013 16:02

December 1st

MsIngaFewmarbles · 15/11/2013 16:04

The first weekend in December that we have all of the DCs with us, I think the 7/8th?

ManicMinor · 15/11/2013 19:42

Probably second weekend in December - certainly earlier than last year, we moved house 4 days before Christmas! And put the tree up the day we moved in!

Elsiequadrille · 15/11/2013 19:51

Christmas Eve ideally. But for practical reasons (involving time and lack of) will go up early, two or three days before. Playroom tree is decorated a little earlier, but not much.

I do wonder if those who put them up end of Nov/beginning Dec are not sick of the sight of them by the 25th. I know I would be Grin Plus, all that dust.

pigleychez · 15/11/2013 20:05

Usually the first weekend in Dec.

This year we move house the 2nd Dec so guessing it will be when ever enough boxes have been cleared!

Teabird · 15/11/2013 21:37

Usually the first weekend in December. Last year I had to battle with our big doberman who took great exception to the glittery baubles and thought the only solution was to eat them slyly off the tree-like I wouldn't notice! This year it will be our feisty 10 month old battling to get her hands on the decs!

SparklyFucker · 15/11/2013 23:00

This year it will be the second weekend in Dec, 8th & 9th. Usually we do it at least a fortnight in advance, sometimes nearly three weeks, depending on when exactly Christmas falls.

M0naLisa · 15/11/2013 23:50

Ours normally goes up around 25th December, as i like it up for my birthday on the 29th. But as DS3s birthday is the 30th (hes 1 this year) we will start and put our tree up on 1st/2nd. When hes older and if he wants the tree up for his birthday then we will put it up probably on my birthday for him.

Oldraver · 16/11/2013 00:57

Not until the 10th of December as OH's birthday is the 9th and he is a Grinch over sharing his birthday with Christmas --the big baby- Grin

putyourhatonsweetie · 16/11/2013 05:01

First day of school holidays, :)

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 16/11/2013 05:16

The wreath will go on the door and the outside lights (just a string of fairy lights, no Santa & sleigh or anything) go up when the advent calendars come out, so the 30th/1st.

Tree will go up probably 14/15 this year maybe the following weekend. Depends how excited I the kids get.

Christmas trees in November seem a bit over-indulgent, like eating the whole tin of Quality Street Grin

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 16/11/2013 06:32

Mine will be going up on the 1st - I love Christmas lights!

QueenFuri · 16/11/2013 07:58

Mine always goes up on the 1st.

killpeppa · 16/11/2013 08:03

the 5th of december. same night we used to leave our lists outGrin

cheesypastaplease · 16/11/2013 08:13

We are putting ours up on 1st December as it's the only weekend dh is off. We will then make new decorations throughout the month for the tree and rest of house.

MegaClutterSlut · 16/11/2013 09:40

first weekend of december if I can wait that long!

escape · 16/11/2013 09:58

Each to their own as is completely harmless, but intrigued to know why people do Christmas decorations in November ?
Even the 1st Dec feels too soon to me, but I was brought up with them up around 2 weeks before Christmas Day, so that is our tradition...

CrotchStitch · 16/11/2013 10:41

15th of December this year :)
Firstly because DH is taking me to Ikea to buy a tree and loads of other stuff for my birthday on 14th.
Secondly because we had a log burner and the dust drives me insane at the best of times Hmm

sooperdooper · 16/11/2013 10:51

Think I'll put it up around the second wkend in Dec, couldn't even consider it before the start of December though!

Rowboat · 16/11/2013 12:30

1st Dec. If it was up to DH it would have gone up last week. Big kid!
