Ok, need some guidance. DS1 is 6 and really wants...a grown up box of chocs for xmas. I don't want to buy him milk tray or similar, too many chocs that he won't like and I will have to eat. Any ideas?

JustasmallGless · 16/11/2013 08:17

BlackberrySeason So sorry to hear about your DH's job, I hope something comes up soon.

We too have benefitted so much from this thread, DH lost his job in june but thankfully got a new one yesterday! I won't be buying anything that isn't a bargain though, as it could take time to get paid and we have spent loads of our savings, which we need to build up again.

I now think I want to get him some other little things for xmas - and a present for starting his new job next week. He will be training it, 2 hrs a day, anyone got any suggestions of small cheapy things for travelling? He doesn't drink coffee or anything so no travel mugs etc.

I was looking at a kindle for him to be able to read on the train, but they are so expensive, he also likes to read at night so the paperwhite would be good, anyone seen any deals?

Also, I am waiting on Hearst and Conde nast subscriptions, but the issues start from the 1st dec, I signed up on 9th November for them all - so I guess I should just keep waiting? I have been following Cloths arguments with them closely - I will be cancelling my DD once the stuff arrives - they are not getting anything else out of me, the T and C definitely state it is fine to cancel!

I ordered the bird scarf, nothing yet. Might be another MUradgate, they probably only had about 20 of them!

JustasmallGless · 16/11/2013 08:17

After eights for the chocs?

PoopPoooDeDooo · 16/11/2013 08:25

Sorry to hear about your DH Blackberry; hope he gets sorted soon.

MissMakes, I've got a kobo and I lurve it!!! They are going for £29.99 in WHSmith at the moment if that helps?

AndiMac · 16/11/2013 08:29

The Hut has an offer on men's clothes. If you buy a blazer, you get a free pair of jeans worth £45 with it. As the blazers start at £38.99, this might be a deal for some of you. [http://www.thehut.com/offers/thg-deals/free-jeans.list Free Jeans Offer]]

AndiMac · 16/11/2013 08:30

Ah, missing a bracket. Free Jeans Offer

Polgara2 · 16/11/2013 08:32

What was the iTunes voucher deal that someone mentioned upthread? Not sure how long ago it was, it's taken me forever to read all this!

Asheth · 16/11/2013 08:38

Superdrug was selling itunes vouchers cheaper. I paid £12 for a £15 voucher. Think it was £20 for £25 and £40 for £50. Game was selling them on line but the £15 one was out of stock when I tried.

missmakesstuff · 16/11/2013 08:42

poop (Sorry that sounds wrong!) I like the look of the Kobo but DH is an insomniac and reads in the early hours a lot, with the paperwhite he wouldn't disturb me!

Does the Kobo have a lit display? Can get the Paperwhite for £99 on Amazon, thinking of waiting till black Friday to see if it comes down in price.

Oreocrumbs · 16/11/2013 08:47

I'm not sure what iTunes deal the pp meant. There have been a few mentions of them as they have been spotted, usually a %off at various places.

HUKD this page has a list of active iTunes deals if you want to have a look and see if there is anything of interest.

weebarra, what does he like? Thorntons do boxes od 'types' of chocolates, like pralines, fruit centres etc. So if what he likes falls into a straight forward category you coukld get hom a box from there.

Otherwise, I agree with after eights. I would have killed for a box of them all of my very own last week when I was 6 Grin.

notso · 16/11/2013 08:51

TooWet I live about 30 mins away but am there very often. I'll wear the bird scarf next time if it's turned up and look out for you Grin

JustasmallGless · 16/11/2013 08:53

living social skate deal Manchester

notso · 16/11/2013 08:55

weebarra Lindors my DC always ask for them for Christmas or Hotel Chocolate do packs of 6 called Selectors there's LOADS of different types it's £3.75 for one pack or £3.20 each for three or more packs. I think there is a 10% off code somewhere and they are on topcashback.

PoopPoooDeDooo · 16/11/2013 09:04

missmakes, the 29.99 isn't backlit, I just use a clip on light (which does the job and only about £2) Worth a look at the others in the range though as they tend to be cheaper than kindles but really good. I'm on phone but will see if I can find you a link Smile

kateecass · 16/11/2013 09:07

insomniacstrikesagain did you see my wooden letter stamps I linked to earlier? I'm going to stamp names and messages on my parcels too. There are alphabet stamp sets on ebay from about £3. Hoping the kids can do that bit for me!

NeverQuiteSure · 16/11/2013 09:18

poop Nook is another cheap ereader, they do a backit version (the glowlight or something?) for under £50 in Argos, John Lewis etc. I have the non-backlit version and it's brilliant. You can buy from the Barnes & Nobel store or transfer books from a PC over the USB connection.

NeverQuiteSure · 16/11/2013 09:22

...or we also have the NOOK HD which is a 7" tablet. You can download almost any app from the Google Play store so can download the Kindle app and read books from the Kindle store or Barnes and Nobel store, depending on which has it cheaper! Also great for web browsing, apps and watching films etc on the train. It's £79 at the moment. We have one and it's a real bargain. Very high resolution screen. I know it's not quite as nice as reading on a proper ereader, but it might be a bit more versatile.

Opheliabumps · 16/11/2013 09:27

toowet I'm about 10mins drive from there, but I shop there a lot rather than pay to park in town. I didn't order the scarf, moght get myself the original Mn scarf so I'm identifiable Grin

Just naother beg for Lush codes, if they do them?

Mum2toomany · 16/11/2013 09:30

Please help me find the cheapest and good quality silicone utencils!
Its on a gift list

Arghhhh

Thank you

RhondaJean · 16/11/2013 09:48

Was in wilkinsons yesterday (on a very unsatisfactory RL shopping trip). It's a shop I always go into all excited then never see anything I want.

But on the way out they had a message on the blackboard to watch for their iTunes offer next week?

girlsyearapart · 16/11/2013 09:48

I was going to say lindor for the grown up chocolates, kobo or nook for the e reader & blue kangaroo for the books so clearly great minds think alike!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 16/11/2013 09:52

I have just bought a second copy of Glamour for £2 - reasoning being that the two nail varnishes I now have will make a nice little gift with the monkey nail blower, and the Body Shop card inside means I have at least £3 to spend there (plus the other £3 from the first copy). It must be a bargain, yes?

dementedma · 16/11/2013 09:52

Did anyone get their free gift with the DSL subscription? I got the magazine but no tripod.

Rubybrazilianwax · 16/11/2013 09:57

For any minecraft mad dc. The minecraft torch light was down to £30 on amazon last night. Has been £37 all along, but it does seem to go up and down
