Is ds (7) too old for imaginext?

He oohs and ahs at the imaginext batman stuff but I'm not sure if he's too old. We've been through a long playmobil phase but he is no longer interested in all that and has only played with lego for the past two years. Last year we bought HM armed forces stuff but that has gathered dust.

No I dont think that 7 is too old. Imaginext is fantastic and my ds loves it! he had the batcave for christmas last year and has asked for some more of the batmen sets this year.
It also has a very good resale potential on ebay if he suddenly out grows it by next year but if he is a batman fan im sure it will be treasured!

I'm not sure really - we have the (old) bat cave and lots of the Batman friends characters, owned by ds2 who is 3. His older brother (6) does play with it all, but doesn't covet it despite loving all things Marvel - compared to playmobil and lego, there is no detail, the figures have more limited movement, and the sets/vehicles have that chunky plastic look and feel. If he loves Batman/Superman, then I think the Imaginext characters are amongst the best options, but playmobil much better for police/castle bits. For batman stuff, I'd probably go for the lego superhero sets instead.
