...... To hold it in but I can't anymore.

AAARRRGGGGHHHH I'm so bloody excited for Christmas!

I've cried at the JL Christmas ad and sang along to the coca cola Christmas ad and I keep humming Christmas tunes and I wrapped presents yesterday and now I'm desperate for it to be time to put my tree up!!!

I need someone to temporarily talk me down

Here's a talk down - IT'S NOVEMBER. THE THIRTEENTH.

FTRscreamingInTerror · 13/11/2013 11:02

I know!! Isn't it great! Only 17 days until I can put the tree up Grin

TooWetToWoo · 13/11/2013 11:09

It's DS1s birthday today which always gets me excited as it's always exactly 6 weeks till Christmas (as well as the obvious festivities for him!).

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 13/11/2013 11:37

Tree doesn't go up her until it's Christmas - which is the Saturday before the 25th Dec. The C word is banned until it's actually Christmas too. Christmas is one day - not a season.

RevengeWiggle · 13/11/2013 11:40

I can't help because I've been doing this since September. All my presents are bought and wrapped, my cakes are made and now I have nothing Christmassy to do until December when the decorations go up. I really want to put the tree up now

jojane · 13/11/2013 11:45

I love December, we have booked to go to longleat on the first hich will be a great way to kicks try the Xmas season!

FTRscreamingInTerror · 13/11/2013 11:49

DH is in the navy and doesn't get home from 7 month deployment until the week before so we'll be in full Christmas mode by then. Decorations up, Christmas songs/movies on, lovely Christmas snacky foods and beer for DH. No gifts under the tree until late Christmas Eve due to the furry terrorist who gets in to EVERYTHING!!!

I'm feeling all warm and glowy already Smile

SugarHut · 13/11/2013 12:29

FTR.... hurrah for you!!! I bought a beautiful wreath yesterday to go on a newly painted front door. I am willing November away as fast as I can so the tree can go up on Dec 1st Grin

Badvoc · 13/11/2013 12:33

Middleagedmother - FYI advent is a season and lasts a month!
We no longer fast during advent as they used to, or celebrate til 12th night, but advent lasts 4 weeks, whether you like it or not! :)

QuintessentialShadows · 13/11/2013 12:33

I am glad for you.

I, with my advancing years, have experienced that hand in hand with Christmas comes a family disaster of some sort, every year, going back 12 years.

I can hold my breath, and will be happy when I am counting fingers and toes, eyes and ears on the first of January. Make that 4th January to be on the safe side. It dragged on to the 4th, evil bastard, 4 years ago, as that is when I had to take my mum for sectioning.

I can continue, if you really want to be taken down.

FTRscreamingInTerror · 13/11/2013 12:54

Ah Quint, that does put things into prospective somewhat. I have been lucky to have only suffered on horrendous Christmas (miscarriage on Christmas Eve Sad) but you and your poor mum, I hope things are improved now Thanks

I'm so excited too. Have most of my Christmas shopping done so will have all of dec to do Christmassy things together stress free. We are going to see the lights being turned on in town on Sunday, first Christmassy outing of the season!

would love some Christmas emoticons MNHQ!

Marne · 13/11/2013 15:56

I'm excited too, have been excited since October, have almost finished the shopping, wrapped most of it today and can't wait till December so I can put the decorations up.

ghostonthecanvas · 13/11/2013 16:04

?~?~?~?~Angry~?~?~?~?~Biscuit~??~?~

Bah humbug.......Wink

Isildur · 13/11/2013 16:37

I'm excited, so no use at all in talking you down - in fact I'm delighted to find other people counting down to Tree-Day!

I'm not very organised though. Hardly bought anything we need, but seem to have spent quite a bit on non-specific Christmas 'stuff'.

We have a frozen turkey, new tinsel with lights in (don't ask, I wasn't responsible for that one), a pudding left over from last year, and some Advent calendars.

None of the children's requested presents, nothing bought for our guests, and we need to budget for the actual (huge) tree.

Have my playlists sorted on Spotify though, as a background to accompany the frantic panic.

HyvaPaiva · 13/11/2013 16:51

My DP has taken the bag of decorations out of the cupboard and placed it firmly in the living room. He's just itching to put them up. I've bought all the gifts, more decorations, Christmas DVDs, Christmas novels, Starbucks novelty drinks ...today I even had a Christmas lunch from M&S as they now do a three bird roast sandwich. I'm too excited and I love that DP is just as 'Christmas-focused' as me. I reckon we're one Christmas away from those huge outdoor decorations, like my uncle's 6ft inflatable snowman Grin

FTRsGotAShinyNewNN · 13/11/2013 16:57

ShockShockShockShockShock Have just been out and someone near me has full on outdoor decs going on!
Inflatable 8ft Winnie the pooh Santa and snowman, giant inflatable snow globe (which is snowing inside!) and lights all over house.
Now that is dedication!

hyenafunk · 13/11/2013 19:07

Christmas IS a season. Tis the season to be jolly tralalalalalalala and all that. I LOVE CHRISTMAS.

I'm trying to contain it for now. I think it's going to really thump me on the 1st when all the decorations are up and we start EOTS. Although we are having a very festive day on Sunday- going to see a reindeer parade then having carol singers followed by a lantern procession through our village to switch the lights on! So that will truly start off the season for me Grin. Eeeek.

elfycat · 13/11/2013 19:13

I'm trying to work out if I can put the lights down my stairs. Not all the other Xmas tat but just the lights. DH and I have discussed leaving them up all year, or at least for the darker months as it would make the hall nicer. We have a bright light with fuel burning Halogens to make the light fitting worth what we paid for it but LED sparkles don't take much electricity to run.

It turns out that 'Silent Night' and 'Deck the Halls' are good songs for my young DDs to learn in the car. They had refused 'Old MacDonald', 'Twinkle, Twinkle little star', and other nursery rhymes and I was a bit desperate on a long car journey on Sunday.

Xmas is sneaking in. And at least the Baileys was on offer Grin

Doitnicelyplease · 13/11/2013 19:37

I love Christmas too and I start all my buying/planning/thinking early in October which is a bit weird and early but then come November I chill out a bit and spend the month feeling mostly organised with just a few things left to do.

Then once December comes I go full speed into Christmas mode again buying the last presents, wrapping, decorating, watching Christmas movies etc.

I don't really like to do anything too Christmassy in November but we have the big Santa parade here on Sunday so will take the DCs to that. Oh and a tree lighting thing on Friday night in our local town...other than that Christmas is strictly for December.

I save all the real stuff, outings, Christmas market, visit to Santa, making a gingerbread house etc for each weekend in Dec. so we have a really festive month.

On the upside November is flying by :)

Oldraver · 13/11/2013 19:59

I am sure I spied a lit Christmas Tree in my mad neighbours house

Katnisscupcake · 13/11/2013 20:02

OMG - Have I missed the 2013 screening of the Coca Cola Ad?????? OP, you mentioned it, has it been on or have you just been singing the tune?
