Every year i swing between trying to get something really cool / novelty... and just buying cheap tat...as imo everything ends up in the bin anyway...

in the past i've tried filling my own, the tin whistle ones, racing christmas puds... and they've all been a let down tbh

i quite fancy the handbells one but don't really want to spend £20+
the only ones that have sparked my interest this year are balloon modelling ones - think they were in tk maxx but was put off by a box of 6 when i need 8.

So, any great successes out there?

Or should i just go cheap and cheerful again?

I've done the full spectrum from expensive to cheap and I have to say that cheap has won the day for me. Even the expensive ones have crap in them, just more expensive crap. At least with the cheapies I feel no guilt at sweeping the whole lot into the bin at the end of Christmas.

I get a box of 50 from Costco for about £13 and let DD go wild. Last year I also got a small box from Aldi with little wheeled sleighs in for about £2 and DD still plays with them now.

I fill my own (i use the john lewis kit as it's only £5 and I like the design). I put in things chosen to keep the dds busy so dp and I can relax.

Someone on here fills their crackers all the same with something that everyone can compete to make Luke lego. I love the idea and will try it when the dds are older.

Waitrose has an offer of a box of crackers for £5. They are child centric (can't remember how many, but at least 8), and have such things as Ludo, a whoopie cushion, etc. Cheap is best for me too!

TK Maxx have some quite attractive crackers at cheap prices.

Does anywhere do boxes of eight? That's how many I've got coming for Christmas dinner, and I don't really want spare crackers hanging around. I've only seen boxes of six.

I have also done cheap and expensive and have decided it all goes into the bin unless you actually fill with a proper gift for the person which I may do next year again.

I'm just buying cheap ones that suit my decor this time!

with make your own /design paper areoplanes
they still have the hats ect. and we can play with them later .
