Christmas eve market day...we go for a wander and buy fresh sprouts and parsnips, possibly cranberries to make myself some sauce this year since no-one else likes it Confused

There are quite often carolers or reindeer or something along those lines in the market place so we stop to see those.

Come home, make mince pies and do dinner prep for Christmas day ( I find if I involve the kids, they don't explode with excitement!), nice bath, pj's on, Christmas film, mince pie and drink out for Santa (carrotts for the reindeer), sprinkle more 'reindeer food'....stockings on the end of beds and snuggle up in ours to read The Night Before Christmas.

Christmas morning they open stockings in our bed while we wake up with Brew (and they get excited about character socks, knicks, vests and toothbrushes along with all the other tat bits in there) and then other than the roast it's usually a quite chilled out, laid back kinda day with no direction Smile

We have my DPs arriving late on the 23rd so it will probably be a late start on Christmas Eve (my DPs struggle to leave the house before 11am on a day where they have not suffered a long late journey the night before Hmm)
One they are finally ready we are going to town for Christmas Starbucks and a wander round (since my plans to walk up a big hill with hot chocolate, cake and the dogs has been vetoed Hmm)
Once home we may pop to the pub for a drink then have a nibbly buffet tea, stockings for all (including dogs and cat!) hung by the fire then bed. I will also prepare the meat and veg for Christmas dinner at some stage.
Christmas morning we will open stockings downstairs by the fire. Posh breakfast with bubbly before getting showered and changed for church. Depending what time church ends we will pop to the pub to see friends and wish everyone a happy Christmas, then back home for presents while dinner cooks. After dinner maybe a walk (if it's not too dark) games by the fire and lots of nibbly bits again, then bed :)

Crotch I'll come walk up the big hill with you and your dogs.....anything like that gets vetoed here too & always sounds wonderful to me Grin

lucy I'm up for it, the boys definitely are (though they're not so bothered by the hot choc and cake, more the chance to eat poo and chase rabbits) DH would normally be but is struggling with the concept of getting my DPs up there (I could dangle a sherry bottle in front of DM but DDad is trickier) DS will stay indoors at all costs when my Ps are here so with him moaning, DDad wheezing and groaning about his back and DM feeling cold we have opted for Starbucks and no mud instead

I'm really excited about my plans this year Grin

christmas eve my DM is doing a big family meal and we're having christmas dinner and prezzies on christmas eve like in Germany (my grandma is german) with out the 6 o clock church service though Grin

christmas day will be just me and the kids staying at home which is what I wanted, never had it at home before without having to go anywhere and let the kids take their time over presents and be able to play with them. Not cooking proper food me and the dc are just going to choose a few favourite party foods and prob stick a ham in the slow cooker lots of cheese and dips and PAPER PLATES am not wahing up on christmas day.

Then boxing day will be with my other nan and my auntie at hers for another roast dinner Grin and more presents.
