Looking for ideas for a sporty, bookish, 14-yr old goth, with a purple bedroom! Friend's daughter, so budget around £15.

Any ideas much appreciated!

Copy of The Bell Jar, or the collected Austen, or The Perks of Being a Wallflower - or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, or World War Z, or something by Douglas Coupland.

Cluedo magnetic bookmarks, from Waterstones - they have the rope, the candlestick etc.

Notebooks and purple pens - maybe a fountain pen with purple ink.

Topshop have a wonderful black scarf with flies etc on, but it's over budget (want it for myself!).

CDs by 'vintage' goth bands, such as The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission or The Damned.

Candles and holders/incense if she's allowed them. YY to old school goth CDS, other bands to look out for are, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Gene Loves Jezebel, Fields of the Nephilim and The Cure etc, Alchemy Gothic jewellery (might be over budget though, its a while since I looked) maybe, if she's into it, comics and assorted accessories by characters such as Ruby Gloom, Incader Zim, lenore the Cute Little Dead Girl, Emily the Strange, Squee and Johnny the Homicidal Manic

I've read your op to my own 14yo goth and she says books.

She heartily recommends this

Id go for this and a sound pillow. It's a pillow that you plug your mo3 player into. I bought dd one and she loved it, so now I've been getting them for all her friends birthdays and they have all said its the best present they've had! You got them for about £9 in home bargains or apparently even less in primark.

So book £5, pillow £9 and a pounds worth of chocolate...Grin

Any book or comic series written by Neil Gaiman, Tim Burton films on bluray, manic panic semi-permanent hair dye (with permission from parents!) Barry M cosmetics

Sporty goth Confused? I didn't realise such a person existed! When my friends and I were goths about a hundred years ago we all avoided sport like the plague!

Try Etsy - add goth related keywords like purple, black, gothic, ivy, bats, alchemy etc and see what handmade treasures come up in your budget.

I have a sporty goth!

RhondaJean · 10/11/2013 20:41

Actually, I'm getting a bit worried now - there can't be that many of them - am I your friend??

This chap went down rather well at the 'younger crowd' Friday night line up at Whitby Gothic Weekend www.whitbygothweekend.co.uk/ last week.
