before I buy today..baby born swim doll, dd is 4 and has asked for this.. is it worth it? also marble run and turbo twister for ds who's 11,marble run looks like alot of putting together which is fine but if its a piece of flimsy shite like loads of previous toys it will be thrown there after xmas day!! any opinions would be appreciated :)

You could always get a pack of superglue to go with the marble run? I'd think an 11 year old could have great fun adapting it, constructing supports etc. Assuming you don't need to put it back in box after playing with it. They are noisy clattery things though, be warned!

Depends which brand of marble run. The only one we have any experience with is the Cheatwell one. My DS5 loves it and putting it together is the fun of it. He builds a 'run', drops a marble down it once or twice, knocks it down, laughs then builds another. I wouldn't say it was flimsy at all compared to most plastic toys. Nothing has been broken so far and he's not exactly careful with toys! Smile

Sorry haven't got any experience with the other ones.

Sorry, I should have said he received the marble run last christmas so it's nearly lasted a year so far.

Well waste of time at the shops, marble run was out of stock in smyths and couldn't find it in argos, baby born swim doll was cheaper in argos but out of stock..picked up a few bits in elc but back to square one..sussed ds out on the marble run and he seems to want it so will go with it, might regret it xmas day tho :)

We got a marble run from Marks and Spencer's last year for DS. It was only a small set though and possibly too simple a one for an 11 year old.

Amazon are out of stock of the one that ds received (the 52 piece set) but ebay had one at around £22 earlier. It's called marbutopia. The whirlpool accessory set's fun too but you need the 52 piece set as well.
