Just got them down and all the glitter has come off the glittered ones. The paint is chipped off and they look shocking after only a year. so avoiding Wilkos am I going to find any good quality and good deals on new ones . family heirloom type ones are okay but all the others no good Sad

When you're replacing baubles, I'd go for glass ones, with no faffy bits. That should avoid any chipping of paint/glitter.

The hand painted baubles which are painted on the inside are good too.

Most garden centres, and Selfridges/Harrods type department stores do good 'classic' decorations which will last.

Storage is important too though, so wrapping baubles and decorations individually in tissue paper, bubble wrap, or even tinsel (if you allow such a thing within your walls Grin) will help.

What sort of decorations were you after?

WaitMonkey · 06/11/2013 09:52

Can I please be nosey and ask why you've got the decorations out so early ? I feel like getting mine out, to marvel in the Christmas feeling. But if I get them out, I will want to put them up. So am sitting on my hands until at least the 1st of December. Grin

supermariossister · 06/11/2013 09:53

Haha not to put up wait monkey I wanted the Halloween stuff and they were all in the same big box so I had a nosy Grin Grin

I allow tinselGrin I love it. They weren't stored right seem to have all bumped together and got wrecked. looking for things that will last slightly longer but maybe a set of baubles or decorations or it'll cost me a fortune to buy a bauble at a time haha

Well my taste tends towards the chaotic, no Nordic simplicity here.

So I'd start with these baubles and then go mad in the rest of the shop!

They have some really unusual stuff. Grin

supermariossister · 06/11/2013 11:37

yay that's fantastic . I like chaos too everywhere I have been has two colours in a pack and is all very organised that is brilliantGrin the more unusual the better. I have a little Robin that was my mums, it never grips on the tree always hangs up side down but I refuse to get rid. my tree is never organised but always colourfulGrin

That makes sence. Also, I marvel at anyone with Halloween decorations.

WaitMonkey · 06/11/2013 16:27

Also unorganized and colourful trees are the best. Grin

supermariossister · 06/11/2013 16:31

girlywhirly · 07/11/2013 08:02

Accessorise have a few little tree decs, I don't know if they have them this year but they used to have tiny knitted meercats, and also ordinary knitted cats. I have one on my tree.

supermariossister · 07/11/2013 08:13

I keep a look out I would prefer something that I know would be special and remind me of her to one that was like a memorial type

girlywhirly · 07/11/2013 08:18

Have you got a 'The Range' store near you, they have lots of reasonably priced decs. They also have storage boxes with divisions inside for tree decs and baubles. I've got a storage bag for wrapping paper rolls/gift bags and tags, and there is also a Christmas tree bag which I'm eyeing up because it will be easier to manhandle in and out of the loft, the original box is falling apart now and the tree is pretty heavy.

supermariossister · 07/11/2013 08:25

That sounds good all my Dec's were in an old fan box which is why they've bashed about. I saw on pinterest someone had bought a stack of plastic one use cups and stored an ornament in each. nowhere near a range unfortunately but the tree bag is a good idea

The Woolly hugs folk are having a craft sale for charity (Winston's Wish). There will be some decorations for sale there. Hang on, I will get a link.
