Dsis has had a quite a shit year, she and her dc are coming to ours for Christmas and I would like to do a stocking for her putting some pampering things in it for her, nice hand cream, body cream, bath foam etc

Which products can you recommend and where to buy them? Am on a budget too so can't spend too much! What would you like to find in your stocking? Wink

Plain Terry's chocolate orange for me please have already bought mine though as dh always forgets Have a look on the bargain thread and not plastic tat threads as loads of ideas there. There are pashminas for under £2 on e-bay/amazon. Maybe a coffee voucher? Nice mug with hot chocolate and marshmallows?

calamityjane · 04/11/2013 14:48

Ooohhh thanks for those ideas 3 bunnies hadn't thought about mug/hot chocolate or chocolate orange

Soap and Glory Hand Food is really nice and you can get small sizes of it, perfect for stockings

Leeds2 · 04/11/2013 15:20

Something from Lush, like a bath bomb or piece of soap.

A magazine, or book, for relaxing with.

One of those shower sponges. Don't know what they are called, but they sell them in Tesco.

kiwidreamer · 04/11/2013 15:45

My first though was does an adult really need a stocking but that sounds really sweet if they are coming to stay and has had a rough time of late... I definitely second keeping any eye out on our bargain threads here, lots of lovely things (including codes / vouchers / freebies) that could bulk out a adult stocking without costing too much money.

I find the best thing to do is to have it on your mind each time you go to the shops and you'd be surprised what you can pick up at the Poundshop or Primark for example, its not all naff stuff!

What about a bottle of Baileys or even the Aldi stuff is supposed to be nice and even better if she shares! The Aldi xmas fudge is supposed to be delish too. Lidl have a perfume that is supposed to be very close to a Chanel scent (I forget which one) but that is quite personal. The Body Shop Hemp handcream is amazing and there is a voucher in this months Glamour magazine for either £3, £15 or £100.

Thank you for all these ideas, sorry Leeds2 but can't go into Lush I have such sensitive smell it kills me just walking past! Suppose I could send dh in though Grin And I have a book in mind that I think she will like.

Have been looking at the Soap and Glory range but wasn't sure if it was any good!

Where can I get a nice shower cap from?

calamity I really like the soap and glory stuff and you can get various mini bottles/tubes of the products in boots/superdrug if you fancied getting some for your Dsis to try out without committing to big bottles of the stuff

calamityjane · 04/11/2013 17:11

Am off to Boots tomorrow so will pick some up and have a look at the rest of the range

Thank you Thanks

I do a stocking for my sis every year from her children. Stuff I've got:

Chocolate orange
Lidl suddenly perfume
Hand or foot cream
Scarf
Wrist warmers
Notebook
Fold up shopping bag
Nail varnish
Mini bottle of wine/spirit
Hot water bottle
Socks
Pen

chanie44 · 04/11/2013 21:03

Sorry I meant to add, I'm also on a budget so I do hunt out bargains:

Asda has nail varnishes for £1.

Lidl perfume £3.99 although I believe it is due to be half price this weekend.

Body Shop has some mini products for under £5.

H&M, primark and New Look have cheap costume jewellery.

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/11/2013 21:52

Earrings
Lip balm
Purse
Headphones
Pop tarts
Sunglasses
Pompom slipper sock thingys
Girl boxers
Book (ghost stories)

These are some of the things I'm putting in my dsis stocking, though she is only 14! My wicked mother won't do her one anymore Shock so I take pity on her Grin

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 04/11/2013 21:53

Sorry, mine aren't really pampering at all!

redcaryellowcar · 04/11/2013 22:01

Soap and glory heel genius is amazing . Pop it on overnight with a pair of thin cotton socks on top and just like it says on the tube its better than a pedicure. If you do it for a week you have beautiful feet!
I love the idea of chocolate orange whsmith often have offers on, we used to get rolled up magazine in our stocking wrapped like a cracker!

Leeds2 · 04/11/2013 22:37

Our local garden centre do nice shower caps! They do a lot of nice stuff actually, not necessarily cheap but might be worth a look.

Shosha1 · 04/11/2013 22:46

Thank you for doing this for your sister.

I was a single parent for a long time.

After my mum died nobody thought about what I would get for Christmas ( Dad always gave me money, but it wasn't the same )

After a few years my DSIL realised and made me a stocking.

It had hand cream nail files nice soap decent tights talc mascara hair serum and a voucher for the cinema. ( and a babysitting IOU with it)

It was so lovely and probably the best present I have ever had ( even now when DH spoils me, it was the thought that went into it )

TessCackle · 04/11/2013 22:49

I'm the mn poundland rep Grin
They have an amazing nail varnish drying spray, in pink packaging/bottle. I'm getting one for everyone I know. HTH

TessCackle · 04/11/2013 22:49

And Barry m nail varnish is 3for2 in SuperDrug at the moment.

ShoeWhore · 04/11/2013 22:51

I did this for my own sister last year as she was spending Christmas morning with us and is single and everyone else would have a stocking.

Trying to remember now what I put in it. Some Neal's Yard handwash, a little gadget for counting rows of knitting, Green & Blacks chocolate, a photo frame, posh chilli oil from the local deli, satsuma of course! A book I think.

calamityjane · 05/11/2013 00:11

Thank you all, these are some lovely ideas, I'm doing partly because I don't think she will get much for Christmas and also she runs around for everybody else all year and it's never appreciated, especially by our mum! And she is being messed about by her stbexh, and I thought she deserves a bit of pampering.

Love all your ideas, have got my list for the shops tomorrow, Thanks
