Putting together a gift hamper for dh. Thought I might theme it around his favourite tipple of gin!

So far have thought of some miniatures of different types of posh gin (found an online company that sells only miniatures!!) and some tonic water...maybe some flavoured ones or something.

Bought a tiny beautiful olive wood chopping board to cut some lemon or lime on. Might get a little knife too.

Any other ideas very welcome! I don't drink at all...have no idea of what goes with gin, either mixer wise or some foody bits...nuts or crisps it whatever!

Ice bucket and tongs?
A nice glass?

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 03/11/2013 16:17

Engraved glass

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 03/11/2013 16:19

I've bought this for a friend
Comes in a nice box with dinky teacup and saucer.
Possibly more suited to a female than a DH, and it's a full size bottle not a miniature.
Usually serve hendricks with a slice of cucumber.

WildThongsHeartString · 03/11/2013 16:25

A bit ££ but original!

chimchar · 03/11/2013 16:33

Omg wild! Why have I not seen this in costco?! Looks brill, but buggered if he doesn't like it or if I eat it all.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. Already have a nice bucket...tongs are good idea.

Love the Hendricks gift, but the cup and saucer is not him.

What Sort of glass are you supposed to drink gin from traditionally?

posh olives. Look for a copy of the savoy cocktail book. From the twenties and still the best.

Whereisegg · 03/11/2013 17:11

Cucumber is nice in g&t.

Could you make some ice cubes with pieces of lemon/lime in nearer the time and hide them in the freezer?

What about a novelty ice cube tray?

MummyBarrow · 03/11/2013 17:13

Google gin and tonic shower gel and gin and tonic popcorn. Both fab. You can also get a gin making kit on IWOOT where he can then make his own.

chimchar · 03/11/2013 20:21

Great. Thanks everyone. Fab ideas.

Weeantwee · 05/11/2013 16:20

You can get Gin and Titonic ice cube trays. Icebergs and titanic shaped ice cubes!

I bought some gin and tonic flavoured chocolate the other day. Look out for anything with Juniper berries.

MrsBennetsEldest · 05/11/2013 16:21

Have a look on TheGinBlog, you can get tasters of very special gins and other gin related stuff. There's even a gin advent calendar. MastersofMalt also do lovely tasters and the gin advent calendar and a Single Malt one too.
I do like a nice drop of gin, you could do him sloe/damson gin jelly for Christmas Day. I wonder if gin flavoured Turkish delight would work, not hard to make. Lemon gin liqueur in a nice little bottle, it's just gin, sugar and lemon peel. Put in plastic bottle with screw lid, put in boot of car until almost Christmas , poor into nice bottle. Tada. :) I shall have a proper think now.

chimchar · 05/11/2013 17:20

Ace! Thanks again to you all.

Are you supposed to drink gin like a 'cuppa tea'?
Well. I never!
