Christmas stockings

If you do these, what do you put in them?

Could you also tell me age & gender of the child.

I have Dd aged 14, and 2 ds's aged 12 & 4.

I usually end up with a mish mash of total crap. I'd like to be more organised with them this year.

I love doing stockings. I do for my two (3 and 1) and I do my sisters 3 (12, 9 and 1) as she hates doing them.

The trick is to get a few bulk items to take up space. Plus, get a mixture of practical items.

Chocolate Santa
Drinks bottle
Tube of sweets like smarties
Chocolate selection box
Annual or giant puzzle book

Practical items
Lynx deodorant/impulse set
Hair accessories
Stationary for school
Umbrella
Lip sil
Gloves/scarf
Bag

I have DD 6 and DS 4.

A lot of the fillers are the same each time - they always get:

• a new toothbrush (as they need replacing every 6 months I might start getting 2 identical and putting one away for June)
• a magic flannel of a favourite character
• character socks as they only get plain generic stuff through the year
• character undies (as above)

Apart from that it'll be a bit of chocolate or sweets - probably things like Cadbury elves that are seasonal.

Then a couple of actual toys. This year DD is getting Monsters University Top Trumps, DS is getting a diecast plane or two from the Pixar movie. Maybe some character figures as they usually get some.

I don't usually do party bag type stuff but we all really love poppers so I may put one in just for a laugh.

I also have DSDs who are 15, we don't do their actual stocking as their mum does it, but I do love getting them lots of little things that would fit in stockings if required - earphones/mini speakers, gloves, funny badges, funky laces for their shoes, socks, lip balms etc

For dd I have got (going into hospital later this month so am very prepared this year)
Xmas top, elf hat and tutu
Squashy frog (she loves those jelly filled rubber toys)
Disney princess pants set
Cadbury elf
Bag of gold coins
Scratch and sniff stickers
Fairy dust in a bottle ( I know that I will regret it but..)
Stacking crayon pen and princess notepad

Ds (4) has similar to others above.

Practical things: bubble bath, bath crayons, expanding flannel, character toothbrush, character socks ( not underwear as he'll only wear trunk style boxer shorts with no seam at the back and all character ones seem to have the seam).

Sweets/ chocolate: Aldi chocolate Santa (50p with voucher on back of their Christmas brochure), fruit pastilles tube, chocolate coins.

Good quality but small toys: small Lego set, playmobil blind bag, Lego torch keying, this year he's getting a yoyo and a recorder.

My mum always had a rule that there were 10 things, 5 edible/silly and 5 that were practical like pants, pens and paper

Oli, Disney store do character boxers at Xmas, I got DS some cars ones last year that are trunk style and don't have seams on the back.

Not sure what characters they are doing this year (our local one closed :()

Oh, I'm just sorting out my Christmas closet just now while 5yo dd's at her gran's. Okay, in her stocking there is:

A crayola sketchbook and pipsqueak pen set
A plastic glittery recorder
A giant Tinkerbell bubble stick
2 pairs of Tinkerbell socks
A set of 7 Disney princess pants
A Tinkerbell bath mitt
A set of 4 animal hair bobbles/bands
A pack of Tinkerbell 'Happy Families' cards
A small box of 5 pencils
6 lollipops
2 packs of Fairy tattoos
A Tinkerbell necklace in an organza bag
A tin of Santa chocs

Still got to put in a wee novelty toothbrush and an orange.

Dds will be 5.9y and 19m

they have huge stockings so they each get:

A teddy. Usually one from the Disney shop with the year on it.
A drawing pad.
The clothes they will wear Christmas day.
A book.

We don't give them sweets except in the stockings (gps buy them loads) so:
A cylindrical tube of buttons or similar
chocolate reindeer & Santa lollies
matchmakers
after eights

then some practical things:
Flannel
bath confetti
toothbrush

small gift items:
Slinky
snow globe
lip balm

one gift from their Christmas list.

In our house the stockings come from Santa, not from us. Everything under the tree has been gifted from a specific person but the stocking contents come from Santa.

Oh, I forgot the bag of chocolate coins. No Christmas is complete without one!

Also magnetic poetry perhaps, and magnetic bookmarks go down well too - either one large one or a little pack of mini ones (I gave DSS a set of Mini Cooper bookmarks last year which he loved)
