How much goes in the stockings?

I always go way overboard Buying all the little bits is my favourite part though.

Mine always get:
Satsuma
Choc coins
Festive friends
Bubble bath
Soap
Toothbrush
Tree decoration
A Christmassy chocolate figure

Then a few bits of tat- bouncy ball, polystyrene glider, grow your own dinosaur, fortune telling fish, disco duck, racing snails etc. (dd told me a few weeks ago these bits were her favourite part of xmas)

A small present (this year slushy cups and syrup)
A main present that's not THE main present dd- password journal, ds- Lewis Hamilton car.

They don't get books from Father Christmas as books are the one thing I will agree to buying them through the year- FC is all about giving them the stuff I say no to! Apart from toothbrushes and satsumas obviously.

Oh and this year they also have santa egg cups as dd saw them and begged me for one but I said no I'm not bloody buying an egg cup you'll use on one day of the year.

So come on, tell me it's hardly anything and my children are not spoilt brats

i like their stockings to be full, with some bigger presents on the floor around it. They get new pyjama's/dressing gowns/slippers on christmas eve and a big present from us after coffee on chrsitmas day i love it!!!

I also love buying all the stocking fillers! my dcs have a lego minifigure, small lego bag (freebie from the sun), stacking cups for the bath (they will love these even though my eldest is 7 ), a barbie doll and some worry dolls from ebay. Ive yet to buy the chocolate bits as I cant be trusted not to eat it ! but they will have a small selection box, choco santa and some choco coins aswell! plus any other small bits that I cant resist! I love christmas and spoiling the dcs is lovely. they dont have alot throughout the year and I set aside a budget and look for bargains

My two (age 2 and 4) each have a small stocking, containing four small gifts (this year a torch, toothbrush, flannel, roll on soap), plus a satsuma and a bag of choc coins. Gifts are around the tree downstairs. Last year I also attached a Christmas helium balloon to the stockings which the eldest loved!!

What are worry dolls and racing snails?

Racing snails are just little wind up snails that they can race against each other. They had those last year and spent over an hour racing them! Worry dolls are tiny little wooden dolls in a little pouch that they tell their worries to and put under their pillow at night.

Mine do only get one present from me as well and the total budget normally comes in at around £100 each so it's not vastly extravagant, it just seems like an awful lot of stuff as I cram it into the stockings. Every year I vow to buy less but never do

I have a Christmas savings account that I save into every month, plus I save my nectar and boots point for Xmas each year.

I've gone overboard in the past too but I think we've got our 'forever' stockings now and they aren't massive so it's easier to force myself to limit it.

One set of character figures. Just ONE - this is the bit I've gone overboard in the past.

Not much room after that so maybe one tiny toy or some hair clips for DD or little diecast planes or something.

Did you get the worry dolls and racing snails from anywhere in particular?

Think both my girls would like the snails, the dolls sound good for the oldest

fuzzpig so are ours, I get around this by sticking half a pair of tights inside each so the presents overspill the actual stocking but are still contained within the tights. And the big present will be wrapped next to the stocking as there's no way they'll fit!

Ds' (4) stocking will contain:

I love the stockings!! Best bit of Christmas for me. Brings back lovely memories of blearily opening mine with my brother in the early hours, then going back to sleep with chocolate on my face!!! My parents always let us open our stockings if we woke up as long as we then went back to sleep and opened them again with them. Big pressies were downstairs!

Anyway I also LOVE it now I have my own little ones. I love them running in with them all excited!

I tend to get far too much and am ashamed to say I have often found on Christmas Eve that I have to put stuff back for next year!!!

I start buying bits as soon sometimes as Boxing Day and shove in my stocking box in the airing cupboard.

This year there are clips, grow your own snowman (50p in the accessorise sale!!!!), hairband, bubbles, coins, magic worm, fake rainbow hair, fluffy pen etc. etc. I have forgotten most of it, but that is part of the fun on Christmas Eve!!! Also none of it costs a fortune - it is mainly in the sale stuff.

We do stockings how my family did them when I was little. So the dcs have a pillowcase each. All toys go into the pillowcase except one present from dh and I which is wrapped up and goes under the tree. Presents from family go under the tree too.
We used to keep a big present to be the one from us then realised the kids weren't bothered so last year we gave them a board game each and Santa delivered about £80 worth of toys and stuff to each of them.

Oh god, stocking shopping is my absolute favourite kind of shopping, and my DC have pillowcases which can fit loads of stuff in. That said, last year we still had to leave some stuff loose on their beds. The DDs are 8 and 9, and imo are a fabulous age to buy for.
I went to Urban Outfitters in the week and picked up some nail art sets, hair chalks, jewellery, hair bobbles, ice cream shaped rubbers, photo frames, Mario and Luigi mugs, a nutella recipe book, can't remember what else.
Then went and did a sweep of Paperchase for writing sets, nice pencil cases, notepads, magnets, fairy lights, patterned selotape and other forgotten things.
These will maybe fill a third of the pillowcases, but will all be used, and is mostly things that would be bought anyway during the course of the year. I also put in a nice pair of pjs for them, sometimes slippers if they can be squished in at the end, some Lush stuff, body spray, a Moshi or similar membership card, shakeaway voucher, and then the orange, a chocolate orange, then chocolate coins and some of their favourite Hotel Chocolat buttons.
Also in there will be a few of the smaller bits that they asked FC for.
Everything else we buy will be from us and go under the tree.
I find DS (2) much harder to buy for though!

But what do you do about their letters to Santa? Mine always write so he buys them/ makes then a cple things off their list and then has fun with some small items. Otherwise, why do a letter to him?

Nerf, FC brings some of the smaller presents they have asked him for, then we buy some of the other bigger things from us to go under the tree. They have a huge family on both sides who all buy for them, mainly surprises, but my parents usually buy something off the FC list too.

I love stockings...best bit of Christmas if you ask me. Although our DDs don't get any 'big' presents in their stockings- just small stuff....to me that's the point of stockings. So far this year I have -

I love stockings! I didn't have any as a child and I used to wonder why Santa didn't bring me one. Now with my own family it's my favourite bit. Dd1 gets so excited, more than that she gets more excited to see what everyone else has which gives me a real glow. Dh does me a stocking too and it's always brilliant, far more thought than the actual gifts he buys me.
