Really not sure what to go for as have always stuck to apple products in the past.

I pod touch for a 7 year old!! Wow!

Floralnomad · 21/10/2013 09:55

I'd go for the Hudl for that age just for the slightly bigger screen .

I must be on a different planet. Why would a 7 year old need or want that. Can't kids be kids for a bit longer than 7! I work in a secondary school and I find it shocking that 11 year olds own brand new iPhone. Then the parents go nuts when they go missing.

Yep lots of seven year old have them now days. She wants a speaker in her bedroom and wants to download music to an iPod and play Minecraft with her brother.

I don't see it as a problem unless she is on it all the time which wouldn't happen.

She is still a child who plays with her dolls and reads and plays on her bike etc!

My 10 year old got an iPod touch last Christmas. She also has a tablet but hardly uses it as she prefers the touch. Don't have experience of the hudl, but I love my touch too.

IMO and IME apple products are difficult to beat. They are so straightforward and user friendly.

We are getting ds7 an iPod touch, had a look at the hudl and it looks great but I think the iPod is better they are so easy to set up for children. We will be restricting internet access as he has no need for it, at this stage he will just use it for music, games and the camera.

wonderingsoul · 21/10/2013 13:39

i wouldnt touch apple// but its a personal choice, there are plenty of better tablets and brands than apple.. but apple is a high end name and you pay extra for that name imo.

i would go with the hudle personally.

wigglesrock · 21/10/2013 13:43

We've just bought the huddl for our slightly older daughter, very impressed by it. Funny enough we were originally looking at the touch, then the Kindle Fire but went with the huddl.

Isildur · 21/10/2013 15:54

I'd go for the Touch, simply because of the support/customer service from Apple.

There really isn't anything that can go wrong, they are so child friendly and compact, and the App Store is so much better than Android stuff/Google Play.

I really don't get the shock horror response to a 7 year old having an iPod. It's no different to a 2 year old being given a Leapster or v-tech toy.

We've had a few broken screens with the ipod touch. Really frustrating!

Hudl

BeaWheesht · 21/10/2013 17:08

Hudl

BrianTheMole · 21/10/2013 17:12

The hudl seems to be better value for money. Unless you have loads of apple apps which you can only use on the pod. Maybe a reconditioned pod and a sturdy case like an otter box which will protect it.

rainbowriver · 21/10/2013 17:23

Thanks all. Yes do have lots of apps and music already on apple which is making me think a touch would be a whole lot easier and have a spare otter box too.

Just prefer the size of the Hudl and the price!

Still not decided but at the mo going for the touch

We are getting our 7yr old an iPod touch. As we all have apple products, it means he'll be able to send us iMessages and use FaceTime!!
