Furby Booms - are they worth getting if you don't have the app thingy?

Trying to think what to get dd (age 6) for Christmas and think she'd like a Furby. However the blurb on amazon seems to emphasize use of an app to build up some virtual world. Not sure I'm mad keen on that so is it worth getting if dd won't be using the free app thingy?

the app is free and can be used without having the actual furby...kept two of my kids entertained all last weekend!

The furbys are cute and cool, and have been played with here. We are getting the new boom ones for dc2 nd 3 for Christmas.

you don't have to use the app with the furby, but it does add another element of play to it. have a look and see what you think. there is a video of the furby boom you can watch at the start of the app.

DD1 had one for her birthday last year and loved it even though we didnt have any apps for it so i think its worth it

dd got furbyy last Christmas never got around to using the app, she loves her furby and am getting her one of the new furby booms
