... doesn't "do" gadgets; doesn't travel with work; has hobbies but buys his own stuff for that;always do the usual socks/boxers/shirts/ jumpers/books/CDs/DVDs/toiletries kind of thing. No mags I can subscirbe him to; just had significant anniversary so have got all manner of theatre/experience vouchers. Have been together FOR EVER.. so have done most things... almost feel unfaithful asking strangers but totally out of ideas this year. (or have ideas about "more of the same" just need some inspiration for ONE little thoughtful thing ( in the past have bought wrist strengthener for squash; cycle computer; heart rate thing for gym etc etc )

Don't know if it's any help but this year dh is getting
New pair of moccasin (sp?) slippers - boring but he needs them
Lock picking tools and instruction book (he's previously mentioned that it's a skill he thinks is great to have Confused from amazon
Fire steel from amazon
Box of 600 fizzy cola bottle (from makro penny sweet aisle)

Nix01 · 18/10/2013 14:02

So far I've bought mine a Wembley Stadium Tour, cufflinks and a Lovefilm subscription.

lilolilmanchester · 18/10/2013 14:10

thank you ladies,if your suggestions don't help me, they will help others looking for suggestions. DH has had cufflinks recently ( but has reminded me to buy him a shirt that isn't a "dress shirt" IYKWIM to wear them with - any links appreciated) ; slippers = boring but actually he could do with a new pair, thank you; tools/Fire steel NA but maybe for someone else. He doesn't eat sweets or chocolate. Has had a Man U tour recently, but will think along those lines.

This year mine is getting those berries that makes sour things taste sweet. I can't link as I'm on my phone but they're on Amazon, I think they're called Miracle Frooties. Nothing extravagant but hopefully different enough to keep him entertained as I am all out of ideas as well!

Nix01 · 18/10/2013 14:12

The London TimeOut newsletter has good idea's for experiences, maybe there's something similar in your area?

MrsBungle · 18/10/2013 14:15

I'm getting my dh a home brew kit to make beer! Those kits appear to have become a lot fancier than those I remember my dad tinkering with in the 80's!

Nix01 · 18/10/2013 16:37

Oh yes, my DH wants a Hugo Boss wallet or money clip. Has anyone seen any voucher codes or know of an outlet store?

gingysmummy · 18/10/2013 17:19

Nix01 · 18/10/2013 17:20

Oooh, a telescope is an amazing gift. Can you recommend a particular brand?

LineRunner · 18/10/2013 17:24

Binoculars are great if not better for star gazing btw.

gingysmummy · 18/10/2013 17:24

I got it from amazon its called a sky watcher i think, he said it was the most thoughtful gift ever, pity i can't come up with any this year

AllThatGlistens · 18/10/2013 17:45

Is there a particular tipple he likes? A very nice bottle of wine or unusual beers?

shoppingbagsundereyes · 18/10/2013 18:08

No idea but my dh is getting a squirrel nutcracker, a bag of walnuts, a toasting fork, a big bag of marshmallows, a bottle of whiskey and some slipper socks. Not very rock and roll

superbagpuss · 18/10/2013 18:21

my dh is getting a zombie experience, easiest present ever Grin

FoamyBanana · 18/10/2013 19:01

I went to Home Bargains today and got a few good DH presents. Mine plays guitar so got him guitar stand from there for £6.99. Also got some touch screen gloves, a v cool alarm clock, a thing to attach his i-phone to the dashboard and lots of nice food bits for a hamper of treats. They also had real shave company stuff for his stocking and these cool mini packs of tissues printed with £10 and £50 notes (29p a pack). Thought he would enjoy blowing his nose on a £50! They also had fab clear baubles in packs of 4 (£3.99 a pack) that you can put a photo inside. Going to add Christmassy pics of the DCs from over the years and stick thosr in his stocking too.

I have made a 'chequebook' on the printer in previous years that he can cash in for various things like a takeaway of his choice, a lie in, his choice of film at the cinema with no complaints from me and a few slightly saucier ones! Really made him laugh and was personal. Might do it again this year.

T M Lewin is very good for smart ladies and gents clothing - re your request for links for shirts. They have a clearance section and currently have an offer of 4 shirts for £100 at the moment. The shirts really are very good quality. Good service both in store and online.

You have inspired me gingysmummy. I have already ordered concert tickets for DH for a band he likes but wanted to get him something else as well. Your telescope idea was perfect. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself. Have ordered the one you mentioned so just got to get stocking fillers and I am done - well with DH's pressies lol! Just the children to sort out now. Thank you. Isn't Mumsnet wonderful.

gingysmummy · 19/10/2013 17:54

gingysmummy · 19/10/2013 17:56

Nix01 · 19/10/2013 19:08

Which telescope did you get? I got 805 results for the Sky Watcher

RhondaJean · 19/10/2013 19:26

I have uninentionally ended up doing DH a hamper this year. I've got the flavourly box on the bargain thread and some of the spicery packs from the sale, I always get him a Xmas eve present (a little alcohol set with a branded glass) so this year I am going to put it all together in a box with some shredded paper and give him that. I might get some fresh foods too (nice pate or ham or cheese from the deli).

cravingcake · 19/10/2013 23:10

A red wine aerator? Just a little stocking filler type gift but my DH loved his until he broke it as he was a bit too drunk last year.

spottymoo · 20/10/2013 09:21

For dh I'm getting him

A hoody for the gym
British touring car tickets for a weekend
PS3 game
Remote control car
Aftershave
Joules fox mug
Wooden phone case

I've then done him a stocking with bits and bobs in Grin

gingysmummy · 20/10/2013 13:32

nix01 i think it was the mecury707 072 at £74.99 i got him

ChipAndSpud · 20/10/2013 15:11

I'm stuck with what to buy DH this year too!

Last year I bought him a Nanoblock set (tiny Lego but for grown ups) of where we got engaged amongst other things.

DB gets DH an Empire magazine subscription each year.

Comic books / graphic novels go down well.

Another year I bought DH a squash racket which he loves!

I'm buying him a watch for his birthday which is shortly after Xmas.

Smellies go down well as long as they are the right brand!

If he didn't already have a Lovefilm subscription I'd get that!
