He's in his 70s in very poor health and can't go anywhere (so tickets or vouchers are out), can't drink, doesn't like football or anything obvious, can't read books easily because of bad eyesight and doesn't watch DVDs or listen to music. Can't drive anymore.

Help?! He was a builder by trade and can manage to sit a bit and make things. He likes gardening. He's in denial about being old and ill so don't suggest a nice blanket for him or anything, it would give him the rage!

Am getting him and my mum a nice frame with grand kids photos in but want something for him iyswim?

Budgets only about £25.

Any ideas????

Oh and they live in the arse end of nowhere if that's relevant.

My Dad is very similar, I'm going to make a gardening/bird watching (his other interest) hamper for him with some new gardening gloves, seeds I know he uses, a seed box to keep them in, a window bird feeder, some of those fat balls (yes, I know) that you hang around the garden
for the birds, those sort of things. Any bits and pieces you know he can use in the garden could go in.

Ask him if there's a nice plant he would like for the garden? You can also get national garden centre vouchers so next time he's at one, appreciate that might be when you are there to go with him, he can choose what he would like?

Or an audio book if he can't read very easily.

He'd fall asleep listening to an audio book !! He wouldn't be able to get to a garden centre , I don't live nearby but even when I visit he can't sit in a car as long as it would take.

Bird watching is a good idea - I wonder if I could buy a build your own bird table kit? Does such a thing exist??

Cake club - get cakes delivered to him each month?

CDs of comedy shows like Hancock's half hour to listen to?
