What was the biggest hit last year? What's still being played with?

The dd's got quite a lot last year ( mainly tat ) and was just thinking ' what still gets played with? ' I think the biggest hit was scrabble trickster, dd2 plays with it almost everyday and uses it to play along to countdown on the tv. Dd1 does not play with anything she got last year ( she got skylanders which we sold a few months later so she could buy a 3ds ).

So what toys are still being played with that your dc's got last year?

Furry leopard hat/scarf/gloves all in one - you know, the ones with ears. She would have worn it all summer if I'd let her.

Older DDs forza (sp) car game (DH got a second hand stealing wheel on eBay) and HP Lego game on the Xbox

Onsies, especially DD2s cooler more PJ one.

DS: Pretty much all of it was a big success. Happyland rocket and happyland trainset were the biggest hits. Both were half price in different sales which makes me even smugger happier.

DD still plays with the my little pony stuff but doesnt like the sylvanian families canal barge much (think it's because it doesnt stay together very well) and right now its in pieces in the toybox which is a shame. Looked so nice in all the pictures of Sad

Vtech camera. And hexbugs, surprisingly. I know they get a bad press on ere, but DS really likes them. He had the imaginext castle and dragon during the year and loves that too.

Imaginext batman stuff and lego was a big hit in our house.

Jake and the Neverland Pirate ship and figures - total waste of money!

this yeat i know every single one will be loved as iv stuck to what they love and havnt brought what i want them to play with or want them to enjoy

^ this.

Happyland was a big hit last year, but at 3.8 DD seems to have more or less grown out of it now. She's all about the sodding Disney Princesses and My Little Ponies now, so that's what she'll get. I want the Happyland Sherwood Castle for DS though.

Duplo is still popular. She hates her WeeRide balance bike - just can't get the hang of it. Loves the horrible cheap Chad Valley cooker from her DGPs as much as any beautiful Honeybake wooden kitchen.

She does like her Innotab 2, or her iPad as she calls it. She had it for her birthday in Feb and still plays with it. I think it's a heap of crap.

From last year DD 13 got a TV/DVD still not wired up for TVBlush but she watches loads of DVD's.
DS1 9 LEGO he loves it and has done from about 4. Hexbugs played with often and they amuse his little brothers.
DS2 2.10 Duplo, loves it. Though I do feel a bit Hmm when I hear the crash of the box being tipped over!
DS3 18 months Happyland people and the figures from a Mickey Mouse busy book. He is never without one in his hand or dungaree pocket!

Waste of time: the Logo Game 'what am I' - gathering dust not as good as the logo game.
Scalectrix, annoying to build and flies off the track.
Rubix race- I love it DC hate it.
ELC wooden activity cube looks good but the xylophone is crap and they just use it as a step to access things they shouldn't!

Playmobil pirate ship has been played with constantly by ds since last Christmas. Whenever he has friends over to play they rush upstairs to play with it as soon as they get in, so he must brag about it in school too. Grin

Dd got a Sylvanian families house and has hardly looked at it cost a bloody small fortune so that will be going on Gumtree soon to finance something else for this Christmas.

After reading this thread I am definitely going to get the Imaginex batcave this year Smile .

Between DS2 (now 7) and DS3 (now 5):
Lego and bakugan get used every day.
Switch and go dinos still get used a couple of times a week.
Dinosaur jeep and helicopter get used fairly frequently

Hexbug was played with until it was lost. Bought new one with track for birthday and now reused again lots.

Cars scalextric was a big hit for few months but not been out box since before summer holidays.

DS1 (now 11) still uses Lego daily and iron man characters regularly. Cherub and Antony Horrowitz Books still re-read often.

Another vote for the Batcave and the castle. DS1 got the Batcave two years ago and the castle and now plays Batman vs Knights with DS2!
Lego gets played with all the time as well.

Should have said he got the castle last year.

Happy Land, Rosebud Village stuff. The collection is being added to this Christmas.

LeapPad 1 that was brought 2 years ago is still going strong ! (But being replaced by a Kindle Fire HD this year)

I forgot to say Happyland is a massive hit in my house, my Dad buys Happyland to add to the collection every Christmas and has done since ds was 2, and both ds(5) and dd(2) play with it almost every day.

A cartoon sound machine

An impromptu purchase on a trip to Heals and yet DS, DH and any other guest in our house loves it.

Have already got the new version for this year to go in the stocking.

DS1 has Aspergers so anything he wants feeds into his latest obsession - so his are always well used.

DS2 is SO much harder as he really isnt into anything! He does enjoy drawing so we have got him a desk for his bedroom so he can store all his paper and a magnetic pin board to put his drawings on as I am overrun with them

DD1 got loads of craft stuff last year which shes barely touched.

She still plays her DS, with her lego and barbies

DD2 still plays with pretty much everything she got last year

This time i've been stricter on myself and only bought stuff that i know they play with now. Plus we're travelling to my parents for Christmas on the mainland so im restricted on how much i can take hide in the car

I can go one better and tell you which of THIS year's presents have been played with most :-/

The marble run which arrived from Amazon unwrapped and was instantly spotted by 3y old DS has been played with non-stop. He has woken up every morning, remembered it, and gone straight to it. I've even heard it clunking in the early hours 18y old DS and his mates...

The ELC wooden airport from last year was car booted in as new condition, the rescue centre is ignored for weeks on end.

The Asda market stall is played with daily, as is the kitchen from the year before. The easel is easily the most used thing from last year. Tech Deck finger boards and skatepark are still v. popular, too.
