Choc coins are a staple stocking filler loved by all kids in the family except DS who hates chocolate.

What novelty sweet can I get that s similar enough?

Lidl have git sugared almonds in, they are quite Christmassy aren't they?

Mini bags of Christmas Haribo? They'll be in shops soon if not already.

Jelly beans?

Candy Cane?

the haribo are always popular but I was wondering if there was anything that doubles up as a 'toy' like the coins do - the kids do a bit of bartering with them!

Sugar mice if you can find them. I saw some in Bakewell on holiday, with proper tails and everything, but they seem to be an endangered species.
