Anyone do Stockings from Santa, big gifts from parents?

Not really sure how else to word it Grin

DDs birthday is a week before christmas, and I want to make it special by her getting her big/main presents then.

Then, at Christmas, Santa fills the stockings (for all three of us - I bloody love a stocking!), and we buy a couple of gifts to put under the tree. She also gets gifts from close family.

Anyone else have Santa do the stocking gifts.only?

Yes.

FC brings a sack (pillow case sized) full of gifts. Cheap stocking filler type toys and essentials like pants socks etc, and naughty things I don't normally let them eat all the time, like bubble gum and a huge box of coco pops. However, in their letters to FC, the girls are allowed to ask for 3 items which is then posted off to FC. (Before they do I retrieve the letter and replace it with a blank sheet) so the original letter appears in their sack, with the three items ticked off. The girls are allowed to ask for one bigger item, and two smaller but nothing too big as FC wouldn't fit it on his sleigh and I want the credit.

We then give them 5 'big' presents under the tree. These will not be essentials, but toys / desired items etc. This year, they're getting ipod touches, so the other items will be smaller, an ipod case, new leotard etc. If there is no big present (and I have a policy of not giving a big present every year, so they don't come to expect one) then the costs of the presents will be more evenly balanced.

We do this as well and my parents did too. Santa brings the stocking and tree presents are from family (and sometimes the cats when I get bored of writing from mum and dad).

Santa brings all the presents in our house, apart from the ones under the tree which are family presents. Santa gets all the credit in our house.

Well my MIL is even more of a kill joy, she wants all presents opened on xmas eve, then xmas day given over purely to lunch ( which begins at 12)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not doing that however.

I like to also stagger presents and often hand one out during each course of the meal, find this is also good if one has guests.

ie one before starter, then another while waiting for main etc.

Not sure re stocking, am finding whole thing confusing....anyway, I dont mind saying FC gave all the presents, the magic of that means more to me, to my DC than ME getting all the praise, they will know once they find out its not true, for the rest of their whole lives it was me, so I am happy to let the magic live for a few years.

Stocking from FC. Other presents accumulate under the tree just before Christmas. Stocking opened first thing. Other presents after lunch.

Stockings only from fc. They are quite substantial stockings though Blush and they include a main present, but not THE main present iyswim. So this year dd is getting a password diary from fc, and ds the lewis hamilton car from cars2. Main present is from me and they also get a big present from my parents
