Any present ideas for my daughter would be gratefully received, not sure what to buy her and money is tight so need to be organised and get things in advance. I will get her some books etc from the charity shop, but for a few bigger presents I really need inspiration.

If you can run to it I would get her a wooden kitchen...you can get them second hand in nice condition and plastic food isn't expensive...last year I saw that Wilkinsons had some of that for a few pounds. A tea set to go with it...

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 18:14

Thank you we do have a plastic one so not sure want to buy another. Good idea though she plays with it a lot

What about:

Playdoh set
Pirate ship
Cardboard shop or playhouse/rocket/castle (there's a shop in Ikea for £10 or the others are online)
Toddler chair and table
Farm set
Duplo
Happyland (the funfair is great)
Easel and art stuff
Balance bike
Scooter
Playmobil (either 123 or the proper stuff if you don't think they'll eat the little bits)
Car, garage, road playmat
Dollshouse

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 18:48

great ideas. Only thing she doesn't have is pirate ship, cardboard shop etc, dollshouse or playmobile. I don't know much about playmobile, is that very different to happyland, which she has a bit of?

What about those fuzzy felt things, are they any good?

ParvatiTheWitch · 12/10/2013 18:55

Yes to Fuzzy felts, also, how about a Tomy megasketcher? They are going on Amazon for £11.60 is instead of £15 at the moment. It's like an etcha sketch but with a "pen" type thing.

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 18:56

Ooh good idea regarding a megasketcher. Will look at those now. Have to suggest ideas for inlaws too and have no idea.

My 3yo is getting playmobil this year Smile It is a lot smaller and more detailed than happy land, with a much bigger range.

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 19:12

thanks whispers. Can't decide whether to get her more happyland (which she has a lot of, and doesn't play with a lot) or playmobil. To be honest, she doesn't play with much, just talks to me!!

Another thought - dressing up stuff? Or a doctor's or vet's set?

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 19:50

dressing up stuff and doctor's or vet's set is a brilliant idea, she used to play with that a lot at nursery.

So possibles so far

megasketcher
cardboard shop or similar
new playdoh (dh's nemesis)
happyland or playmobil
dressing up stuff
dr/vet set
fuzzy felt

She's too young for hama beads isn't she?
Any orchard games to recommend - we have shopping list which she loves.

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 19:51

oh and forgot I think she loved playing with her cousin's radio controlled car so that is an option too.

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 19:51

and I have also bought her a wind up torch from ikea.

For Orchard Games, at 3.5 ds and i spent ages playing Incy Wincy Spider

georgedawes · 12/10/2013 20:14

thanks that one looks good. Think might ask the gps to buy a couple orchard games ones, they seem so good.

My dd likes Spotty Dogs, but I think all the Orchard Games are good, tbh.

WhispersOfWickedness · 13/10/2013 01:16

She might be ok with Hama beads, my DS likes them and is getting some for Christmas Smile you can get small sets to see if she likes it?

ICameOnTheJitney · 13/10/2013 05:31

An easel and craft stuff? Mine loved painting at that age.

MooseyMoo · 13/10/2013 05:49

My DD is 3.6 yo and her main present is a Sylvanian log cabin with furniture and one family.

Also has Disney Princess Hair Accessory Tote bag £7 (back in stock in Tesco)
Disney Princess Toddler Belle Doll
Maxi Hama Bead set
Fuzzy Felt house
Tell the time puzzle
Crazy Chef Orchard game
Little Mermaid DVD
Disney Princess x8 chapter books (£4 from Book People)
Pop up Pirate Game

A couple of things to look out for:
Argos possibly doing another 3 for 2 deal 26th Oct. there was one a couple of weeks and Amazon dropped their toy prices by a third.

Black Friday on Amazon

Set some alerts on Camelcamelcamel to items you want, and you will get email alerts when it drops to the price you want.

Jollyb · 13/10/2013 06:57

Orchard games - the lunch box one is good - similar to the shopping list one.

Don't get the cupcake one. It's completely pointless.

QueenFuri · 13/10/2013 07:21

My 3 year old has asked for Tom the talking cat, a playdoh truck, scooby doo bus and colouring stuff. He's also getting a shopping trolley. and easel .

BeaWheesht · 13/10/2013 08:56

Dd will be 3.3 at Christmas and sounds quite a bit like your dd in that she talks rather than plays!!!!!

In an effort to find something to distract her from constant talking she is getting :

Didicar
Peppa pig palace
Rosebud elc treehouse
Barbie and convertible car (currently 1/2 price at tesco direct)
Dolls house from my parents

Other things she plays with the most;

Dressing up stuff esp monsters and princesses
Doctors kit
Tool kit
Garage and cars
Kitchen and accessories like toaster and teaset
Bath toys
Washing machine that spins and lights up
Till, trolley, shopping bag

BeaWheesht · 13/10/2013 08:57

Oh and scooby doo she loves all the figures and mystery machine

georgedawes · 13/10/2013 10:14

So helpful, thanks everyone. Am browsing everything now! It's amazing how much of this stuff she has and doesn't play with!
