Disposable toys suggestions...

I need a small present for DS2, who is 1 year old. We have a small house full of toys from DS1 (2.5yr). I want to buy him a toy he can play with once, then we can get rid of. If he was an older child I was thinking something arty but at 1 year old I doubt they make anything like that. We already did a bunch of helium balloons at his birthday, so I do not want to do balloons again.

Any suggestions?

Early Learning Centre do chunky crayons for little hands my dc had them at 1, or the Crayola colour wonder are really good too.

Maybe not a great suggestion if space is an issue but I was thinking the cardboard play houses?

What about a tray or cornflour and water. You just mix it together so they can pick it up and play with it. Its brilliant.

My sister once did a baby bath or jelly for her ds! More a summer activity...

I would get something arty like clay / play dough tbh that thy can both use.

Or a small teddy he can keep in bed alongside something practical ie some nice mittens/ hat

Make him a cake/some biscuits?
Cardboard box to sit in, play with, drag around (ours lasted about two weeks of heavy play before disintegrating).
Bubbles.

Do you need to get him anything? Wrapping paper is fun at that age and why not balloons again? He is hardly going to remember them from last time!

AT 1, I don t think there are many disposable toys - most are arty things.

Something like finger paints and a pad of paper? NOt really disposable bur eventually it disappears.

Wrap up something DS2 has outgrown?

You can never have too many books surely? I get sooooo bored of reading all the usual suspects to DC2 after reading the same ones for years for DC1, you can get nice collections for £10 delivered from The Book People, lots of codes on this board.

Toddler crayons and a large drawing pad from Home Bargains would be super cheap.

Bubbles in winter are actually quite neat, the cold still air means they hang about close by which is fun for very small people.

How about a "treasure basket" which is basically a basket filled with ordinary everyday objects for him to sit and explore - taking them out, putting them in, banging them etc. You've probably got lots of potential stuff already.

Not necessarily disposable but I've always bought bath toys for my youngest in that situation as they tend to need replacing each year anyway (well ours seem to).

I can vouch for bath crayons - because they are made of soap ours went REALLY quickly. Tesco do them but I'm sure other places do too.

A helium balloon in a box?
One of those cardboard spaceships/playhouse/car (cant remember the name of the company that does them)?
Bath foam?
