You know, something to read, something to eat etc?
We have my DPs staying this year and as they only have one GS (our DS) Christmas can become a bit, well, big Hmm
DH and I only buy a couple gifts for one another anyway but I was thinking this maxim may also curb the older folk as they have something concrete to work to and they can spend the extra on alcohol :o

Something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read

We add something to watch, something to eat

Grandparents will ignore this though. You will end up with toy mountain. Grin

No no no wait
They will admire our thrift and non consumerist views and be more than happy to oblige Hmm
As it goes they are paying half of DS's XBox One so are reasonably happy not to go OTT with him this year (in theory!)
And thanks missmalone that's exactly it (though should probably add something to eat and something to drink in there :o)
