Can you tell me what your 3yo boys are getting, please?

So far, I have got:
playmobil police station
playmobil police helicopter
playmobil police car
playmobil bank
(He's fascinated with goodies and baddies at the minute, and keeps trying to arrest the cat)
take n play Tidmouth sheds set
4 of these take n play engines to add to his vast collection
As well as a couple of Thomas DVDs and some Thomas pj's, plus stocking with sweets and little gizzits.

And right now; that's about it!
It doesn't look like an awful lot though. I keep telling myself that if I don't limit myself though, we'll end up having nowhere to put it all.

Would your 3 yo be happy with that lot?

I like getting him things that'll last a bit, like last year's kitchen that went down a storm and he still plays with now and utterly loves.

Ds aged 3 is getting playmobil too, the campervan to go with the swimming pool he got for his birthday. That's his main gift really, then the jolly postman book by Janet and Alan ahlberg, a snow globe, new pjs and a torch as he is obsessed by lights.
However if you ask him what he would like he says an alarm clock. Considering he's never slept thru the night yet and is up out of bed at 7 every day I can't see the appeal!

howcomes DS has asked for an aeroplane, a robot and some scissors, so I've not got an awful lot to work on...

I was worried that he would be too young for playmobil, and that it wouldn't be enough. I was considering adding the imaginext castle and a few bits to go with that, but I don't know if I'm being a bit silly.

My only just 4 year old is getting a tractor with Bertie the farmer (request from him for his farm which he got last year) as his main present. Stocking: little horse (request from him for his farm), 2 books - percy the park keeper a winters tale and the pirate dinosaurs -, bob the builder dvd, puzzles, a battery powered train engine and a medical kit.

He is getting a fire engine and fire station (Play Mobil) for his birthday just before hence Christmas is a little smaller in terms of cost. I will probably add some bubble bath and choc with his name as well to the stocking.

DS will be nearly 3 at Christmas and we have got him the following so far:

Happyland Firestation, vet, police station, post office, London bus (to share with 19 month old DD)

Planning on getting him a couple of other Disney DVDs and a couple of puzzles, and my family are buying a Micro Scooter for him, Playmobile recycling truck, and possibly some expansion pack/bridge for his wooden railway.

In his stocking (my fave thing to do!), he has the following:

Postman Pat DVD (found in charity shop)
Character pants
Chuggington torch
Socks
Gruffalo toothbrush
Cars top trumps
Chocolate coins
Few little cars
Mini VW campervan
Couple of Thomas books
Wind up toy
Satsuma (obvs)

Looking at all this stuff, he definitely does not need anything else! Especially as his birthday is quite soon after Christmas.

I will get him and DD Crimbo PJs and a jumper too.

OP my DS would be very happy with your presents! He is getting from us a wooden garage as his main present and in his stocking:
Some little cars to go with the garage,
A frog percussion instrument,
The jungle book DVD
And some other presents... I'm hoping for inspiration before December. He is car obsessed but there is a limit to the number of cars I can put in a stocking!

The only thing I was thinking of adding (inspired by a thread on here) would be the imaginext castle here with a couple of dragons and the catapult.

DS actually turns 3 this weekend, so he'll be getting loads of Thomas engines, a couple of playsets and some bits and bobs then as well. I don't want to be buried under a tide of stuff, which seemed to happen in the past 2 years. I hate the situation where it just doesn't ever get played with!

thatsnotmypinot the micro scooters are fab; we bought one for DS at Eastertime so he could get the use out of it during the summer, and boy did he ever!

FWIW, we found it cheapest on Jojomamanbebe with a 10% mn discount, so well worth looking into?

Wow I feel a bit mean now as I'm not buying my 3 yo DS half as much as you've listed. He will probably get a set of Lego (dh plays it with him and they love it), something for his brio train set, some new you cars and some books. I think the gifts you've listed out sound great.

Oh and I am doing a different festive book every evening for him throughout 1-24 December. A kind of book advent thingy. I've pulled out all the wintry books from his bookcase and bought some new ones as I've seen them come up on special offer on Amazon/book people etc.

I saw some cool dinosaurs in Smyths Toys that talk to each other. DD was somewhat bemused by them. I wonder if the novelty will wear off quickly though.

btw he is fourth dc so we have heaps of playmobil/duplo/train track etc

Gallicgirl my friend bought those for her dinosaur-mad DS. He played with them for about 5 minutes and now they sit ignored in the corner

Even so the batteries are running out and they are making a very eerie yelping noise now!!

It's ok I am definitely the meanest - last year my 3yo DS got as his present

And in his stocking

And that was it (we also already had heaps of duplo and brio)

In fact he liked it more than when we bought a £200 bike for his 4th birthday this year that we'd saved for blinking ages to buy

I'm selling our Brio; DS much prefers take n play Thomas. It was an expensive, well made, mistake

anyone got any links to good wooden garages - thats what i am planning for nearly 3yo ds!

He is also having some duplo, meccano, play doh, books, disney cars crap merchandise. Also need to pick him up some pj's and socks. I have picked up everything pretty cheap thanks to Reastie's christmas bargain threads!

I will be asking relatives to get him more duplo and playmobile.

Ds1 is 3.4, he loves all things Thomas related, so will be getting some additions to his take n play set (if there's anything left he hasn't got??), and in his stocking the usual, pyjamas, socks toothbrush, books, slipper socks, stationery, usually a sweatshirt/jumper and a pair of jeans to wear on Christmas Day. He gets various treats throughout the year, so Christmas is kept to low value, high volume presents.....

this GLTC garage looks really nice. I was stuck between that and the red kitchen last year, and I went with the kitchen.

Some people have slated GLTC on various forums, but they delivered in plenty of time, I got a 10% discount from mumsnet discounts page, and the item was really sturdy and well made. They can be a bit expensive though.

cheese I feel your pain! We now have a collection of 32 of the bastard things.

Mine will be getting a wooden marble run and some magnatiles. We are doing a minimalist cheistmas!
