What did you order that was really nice AnneEyhtMeyer?

I will be 36wks pg on Christmas day so tbh I'm ordering for the ease of not having to do as much cooking.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/10/2013 20:38

DH got the earliest slot possible two years ago, but it was still mayhem, people were turning up without their receipts and it was taking ages. My friend who worked there at the time said the queues were right round the store by lunchtime. It's one of those small, food only ones, clearly couldn't cope with demand.

Badvoc · 03/10/2013 20:42

I just want stuff I can lob in the oven and to cut down in the washing up! :)
Did do an order a few years ago and all the stuff was lovely...no issues picking up either.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/10/2013 20:43

bymoonlight my favourites I ordered last year were the Passionfruit mousse pudding, the sausage rolls (particularly the ones with turkey, bacon and cranberry) and the gravy (shh! don't tell anyone I buy my gravy ready-made!).

Ours is a little food-only one too, Who, but they had it really well organised, with the queue area covered. I was home before everyone else woke up!

sonlypuppyfat · 03/10/2013 20:51

Did anyone try those chocolate Christmas crackers last year

Oblomov · 03/10/2013 20:52

Looks so lovely.

bymoonlight · 03/10/2013 20:54

I think I'll order the Passionfruit mousse for boxing day - dh liked the look it as well.

I'm doing ready made gravy this year - and anything else I can get!

mumtoone1 · 03/10/2013 20:55

Anne, can you tell me what the Passionfruit pudding was like? Someone else mentioned it was refreshing and I quite fancy it now rather than the White Chocolate Bombe.

I'm going to order the gravy this year. it's only £3.00...

The white chocolate snow bombe is amazing, we always end up ordering two puds and eating them for days!! But will need to try another now the jingle bell is gone. Maybe I should just get them all and skip a main course entirely!!

caramelwaffle · 03/10/2013 21:02

I belong on this thread.

M&S Christmas count down...

bymoonlight · 03/10/2013 21:05

I think that might be the best idea on MN today howdoyousolvethisproblem

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/10/2013 21:37

mumto The passionfruit pudding is lovely - it has a lovely sharp raspberry centre, then some light sponge and the mouse. It comes with the coulis in a sachet to pour over just before serving (and some bits of orange peel if I remember correctly).

It was so refreshing and yummy. We all loved it. We had it Christmas day and boxing day, but we wished we had more! I would definitely recommend it.

mumtoone1 · 03/10/2013 22:02

Thanks Anne, I'm still torn though haha.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/10/2013 22:04

Get both! It is Christmas after all!

mumtoone1 · 03/10/2013 22:13

think I might have too, there is only 3 of us though haha. I'm going to order the sausage rolls that you suggested. like the sound of the turkey and cranberry ones too

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/10/2013 22:16

I checked earlier today and was disappointed it wasn't there yet. Get in !!!!!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/10/2013 22:29

Go on, you know it makes sense! The sausage rolls were lovely. i'm going to order two lots this year and freeze some.

I have filled my virtual trolley. I just want to be able to book a slot and check out!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/10/2013 22:36

I want a The Snowman cake (they used to do in M&S , they do a different one in Waitrose)
But how could I take a knife to The Snowman?

His little faaaaaaace Sad

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/10/2013 06:45

Well 70 if you don't eat him he will only melt. I'm sure he'd prefer a quick demise. Grin

pigsinmud · 04/10/2013 09:12

Not much for gluten free vegetarians. Feel pretty miserable about our limited food choices this year. Bad enough being veggie in that the choice is limited, but chuck in gluten free and there's nothing! I'll have to cook everything from scratch. Bah humbug!

VoldemortsNipple · 04/10/2013 09:31

Can I ask some questions please. After last Christmas lunch being a total blow out with the chief chef me going down with flu, the dcs survived on a mixture of party food, chocolate and a Costco carrot cake Blush I am seriously thinking of ordering an m&s Christmas lunch.

Do they all come pre packed in disposable foil tins ready to bung in the oven.
Can you pay off the balance in drips and drabs leading up to Christmas.
Is it good value for money? Looking at what I would like to order, it would cost around £150- £200 for a couple of meals.

mumtoone1 · 04/10/2013 09:41

Volde, the majority comes in foil trays and it's
a case of just chucking it straight in the oven.

You pay a £20 deposit when ordering and the full balance on collection.

You can't pay in dribs and drabs however a suggestion would be top up a gift card every week with £10 or as much as you can afford and then use the card to pay for it. :)

bymoonlight · 04/10/2013 10:07

I'm not sure its good value but it is lovely food and most of it is a case of just bunging it in the oven like mumtoone says.

MadeOfStarDust · 04/10/2013 11:01

I found it was not good value at all last year and everything has been "faffed" with ... herbs here, odd seasonings there ( spiced parsnips?? really), added booze there, hard bits of fruit in stuffings....

Plain , honest good grub - no.... it is not....

ASDA had tons of plain turkey crowns in the chiller last year - in foil trays ready for the oven... and they were nice and tasty - and half the price...

HavantGuard · 04/10/2013 11:28

Herbs? Fruit in stuffing? The humanity!
